My husband and I stayed at the La Quinta "Inn and Suites" located at 8710 Seawall Blvd Galveston, Tx for a total of two nights. The night before we checked in,( around 11 pm) I had called to make sure our reservation was still available and no one picked up the phone for ten minutes and then suddenly it was answered and then hung up. I called back again, again, again, and again for a total of 6 times and the phone rang and rang... no one answered. On my seventh try, someone finally answered, and i was put on hold for 8 minutes, once off hold the front desk agent asked what I needed help with, and I told her I just wanted to confirm a reservation. She checked the reservation and after she confirmed it, she then asked again what I needed help with and I told her she already confirmed my reservation, thank you very much. Once my husband and I checked in, we went to the room we were assigned on the 3rd floor with a balcony. I was told the hotel was completely renovated, and my first thought was, "Wow, This is what they call renovated? "I opened the door to the balcony and it was a horrible view of the hotel next door and their pool and everyone else on their balcony who stared constantly and was very uncomfortable everytime stepping out on the balcony. So the extra 20 dollars was a total waste. I turned on the Ac/ Heater and a horrible burning smell came out of it and then soon faded, but the room was filled with that smell for a while, I guess the balcony door came in good use when this happened, EVERYTIME we turned it on... The refridgerator didn't work properly and the food we put in there went bad because it wouldnt stay cold enough, after noticing the second day. It was eleven o clock at night and teenagers were stomping up and down the hallway causing 2 other guests dogs to bark. It was so annoying, that I stepped out of my room and told them to please stop. I made a mistake of not calling the front desk and awaring them of this because the on the second day of our stay, I called the front desk to request another room and told them of all the nonsense that was going on in and out side of the room. They told me that they couldn't switch us to another room because there were no rooms left, and that I should of called that night when it all happened. When my husband and I went to dinner that afternoon, and arrived back at the hotel an hour or so later, their l.e.d. sign was showing off " ROOMS AVAILABLE" which upset me to the point that I called back the front desk and told them the situation and they told me Oh yes, we have a family suite available. Come to find out, that room was the most expensive. I checked online to see if they were telling the truth, and come to find out they were lying out of their butts... coughcough there was various rooms available and for them to lie and also be rude and not even apologize for the inconvenience made me NEVER want to stay at this particular hotel again. I should of canceled the reservations right from the beginning when no one answered my phone calls 7 different times.
