Location is great! It's located in the quiter end of the seawall. Check-in/Checkout was quick and easy. Safe parking area. You can park underground or outside area. Our room was very comfty and the beds are awesome. This hotel welcomes pets, so I did see a quite few but they didn't bother me. The hotel/room are nicely updated. The only complaint I have is they need to improve in housekeeping. Mirrors were dirty and other little areas. The only con is their pool and that area is very small.
Either than that I would stay here again.

Absolutely awful! Woke up at 3:30 to find 2 roaches on our bed. Phone and fridge in the room did not work. This place is dirty. Checked out after one night. Staff wasn't even surprised when we mentioned the roaches. They offered to move us to a different room that was even dirtier than the first. Avoid this dirt hole!

We had no problem with the staff and our room was very clean. There were no pet odors or barking and while the hallways were warm due to air conditioning problems, our room stayed very cool. The breakfast was decent and the dining area was spacious and clean. The only problem I had with the hotel is the location. It is NOT within walking distance of a beach you can swim at and parking is terrible on Seawall.

When I checked in I was denied both the AARP and the Texas State employee discounts that I have received without question at other LaQuinta's and other hotels in Texas. We went to our room in a rickety, noisy, slow elevator to the third floor hallway where the air conditioning was non-functional. When we arrived in our room it was musty and dirty smelling. The 'free' wifi would not accept the password we were given at the front desk and took forever simply to load the login page and then again to submit the login information after we had entered it and before it was rejected. The safe would not open and the glass coffee pot was chipped and cracked. The balcony that was advertised as an attractive feature, gave us a beautiful view of the electrical transformer station for the hotel and the Holiday Inn Express across the way. If we leaned out over the balcony we could catch a glimpse of the gulf well off to the right and across the road. The insulation to the balcony door was almost non-existent and the door banged and rattled whenever the room door opened or the room AC kicked in. Finally the shower curtain rod was loose on the wall. Because it was a convexly bowed rod, it sank toward the floor at the enter causing the curtain to drop to the middle and allowing the water to splash out at either end. The bed was acceptably comfortable. One gets the sense that this facility is a cash cow for someone and that, due to its location, it will continue to spew forth it's benefits regardless of maintenance or service, so there is no need to tend to either. I am a La Quinta rewards member, but I will not book a room in this hotel again. There are lots of options in Galveston. It's time for me to do some consumer research and test out some of them. Maybe it will lead me to a better rewards program, too.

Room Tip: Try a different hotel.

I booked this hotel for a 2 night stay because of the reasonable rate and location to Schlitterbahn. I saw that the rating was average but failed to read any of the reviews. I won't make that mistake again. Upon arrival, I found the staff to be somewhat unwelcoming. They do not greet you but simple ask for your driver's license and credit card. The first floor hallway leading to our room smelled and the floor was dirty. Inside was reasonably clean and the furnishings were adequate. I did notice we did not have full sets of towels, shampoo, soap or trashcans in the room. I was I needed to pick up needed items at the front desk and when leaving the room I noticed trashcans outside the door. The next morning we went to the waterpark and returned to our room around 3:00 pm. Housekeeping had not cleaned the room so I requested a cleaning. We left again for the waterpark and when we returned the beds were made and dirty towels picked up but housekeeping did not leave new towels or a bath mat. They did not clean the coffee pot and leave additional coffee. In addition, they took our bag of dirty cloths that were in their laundry bag and lost them, threw them away......who knows. We spoke with the manager the next morning and she did make an attempt to find the cloths. There were other bags of cloths that were inadvertently picked up but not ours. I don't know how you confuse a bag of cloths with a bag of trash especially in placed in the provide laundry bag. The manager did comp us one night which was nice but we will not be returning to or recommending La Quinta in the future. I gave a rating of 2 because it could have been worse.

This was one of the worst rooms I have stayed in for quite some time. Booked this hotel because it is only minutes away from Moody Gardens. The carpet and bathroom floor were filthy, turned the bottom of your socks black after walking around the room during the evening. The bathroom was dirty, the shower curtain rod where it attached to the wall was broken, the handle to turn on the water in the shower was almost falling off, the air condition barely kept the room below 80-85F. The "balcony view" is from a balcony on the side of the building and you can barely see the ocean. The breakfast barely existed, no fruit, stale cereal and hard bagels. Overpriced room. I paid a total of $287 for a Wednesday and Thursday night stay, not even weekends.

Room Tip: Don't stay at this place. Find another place to stay.
