“Your car will be towed!!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed August 7, 2013

We paid to park at this beach. We were towed 2 minutes after it closed. We paid 125 bucks for the car to be unchained. Three other cars were being towed at the same time. Plenty of police were there to make sure no one got out of hand as they were towing the cars. We tried to get help from the police who were there but it was obvious that they were there to protect the tow trucks. One of the police officers was vulgar so we got his name to complain about him. Next day, we went to Galveston's police website only to find out that the Chief of Police is the brother and son of the owners...we knew better than complain at that time...Now the city makes you pay to park on the streets so you might as well pay at private or public beaches....Money Maker!! Galveston is close to Houston and that's why they get business, but there are other beaches where they won't take your money.

“Go Next Door - Or use a Public Beach”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed July 24, 2013

We normally don't go to the pay beaches but decided to give this one a try. This beach was dirtier and more disgusting than any public beach in Galveston. There were no amenities besides some overfilled and dirty port-a-potties, a chair and umbrella was $40 ($30 next door at Stewart Beach), so much litter on the beach I can't imagine the last time it was cleaned up, and tons of Seaweed.

After paying our $8 to get in, we walked down to Stewart Beach to check it out where we discovered a clean and well manicured beach where the price was the same but there were many more amenities, umbrella and chair sets were cheaper, and the beach had been recently raked and was clean of debris.

I wouldn't recommend this beach to anyone based on this experience on July 22nd, 2013.

Great place to for family fun. Come here every summer! Family oriented, life guard on duty, clean beaches, and room to play football soccer and volleyball.

“SEAWEED GALORE-DIRTY”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed July 4, 2013

Went there today b/c the island was packed. Sea weed everywhere, bags and litter on the beach. $40 for beach chairs and umbrella. If you bring your own tent you have to pay $10 aside from the entrance fees for "liability" purposes. Overall it was dirty. Save your money and go down the street to another beach.

“Spring Break 2013”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 16, 2013

Galveston does not have white sand or blue water, so any of the beaches are pretty much the same so..............After spending 4 different spring breaks down in Galveston. I will have to comment on Poretto Beach. It is a great non-crowded private beach with some of the best folks working it. You can park right down on the beach and not have to walk a mile thru mud and parking lots to get on the beach. Beer is allowed (just no bottles) and the Beach Hut is right there to offer up food and drinks at a great price!
It is $8 to get in and you can come and go all day as much as you want and the rentals are priced the same as everyone else on the island.
This is a great non-crowded place I hope will be here for a long time!!
