“Just right for a family weekend!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 9, 2013

We stayed 2 nights at this hotel in winter. We were in town to visit Schlitterbahn and play with our 2 young kids (9 and 6). It is a very basic hotel as far as room amenities, except that the rooms are substantially larger than most standard hotel rooms. We requested a room in the new part of the hotel based on reviews we'd read, and while you can tell that families with kids are their main clientele from scuffs and scratches and such, it was very clean and very comfortable. Breakfast was ok; that area is pretty small for the number of rooms in the hotel, but it was fine. Especially for the price, we were very pleased, and had a great stay.

Room Tip: Request to be placed in the new part of the hotel

Rooms were larger then expected with extras not provided in regular hotel rooms. In great location for family fun. Perfect for multiple night stays with attractions and restaurants nearby. Will stay here again when in Galveston.

I'll admit. I'm picky. But this place is in need of the "Hotel Impossible" guy. To clarify, it is an inn, not a hotel.

I'll start with the bad:

The lobby is a cluttered hodge-podge of old furniture and loud carpet. The front desk is sometimes manned and other times there's no one to be found.

The room- When I arrived at our room, there was a big spit wad in front of the door. The door itself was beat up. The room was large, and it was okay, but not as clean as I would like. The beds had a sheet on the mattress, but nothing covering the boxspring. The bathroom did not look dirty, but it didn't look clean either. I don't think it would pass a thorough inspection. There was an odd smell in the room. Not terrible, but odd.

The curtains didn't cover the sides of the windows, so outside lights were glaring in at night. The TV stopped working after about thirty minutes, but the maintenance worker came in and fixed it.
The breakfast was juice, coffee, cold cereal, muffins, and a pancake maker.

The good:

The grounds were nice and there was a miniature golf course in front. The beds were comfortable enough. The sheets and pillows seemed clean. The price of the room, which is around $70./nite included breakfast, a place to park your car all week for cruise guests, and a free shuttle to and from the pier, which was prompt and reliable.

The location was very good; it is close to Moody Gardens and the Schlitterban, and only about ten minutes drive to the cruise pier or beach. It's family friendly.

Overall, it's an okay place to stay if your not picky. My car was safe there all week. Good value for the money. It's not the Ritz, but it'll do.

We wanted a nice, clean and inexpensive place to stay before our cruise that would let us park our car there and shuttle us to the pier. We found it at The Inn at the Waterpark. At $55.00 a night you can stay, keep your car there and be shuttled to and from the pier. Most places around Galveston and wanting $150.00+++ for the same service. I found this place on Trip Advisor and I would highly recommend it to anyone taking a cruise out of Galveston. Not fancy but clean and convenient. What more can a person ask for.

Room Tip: We stayed in the older part of the complex. I did not get to see the newer part. I think next time...

We stayed at the Inn at the Waterpark for our honeymoon. Got a very good deal, two all day passes to Moody Gardens included with the room. After reading some of the reviews, I was a little hesitant, but am so glad we chose to stay here. The staff was very attentive, prompt and friendly. The room was quite comfortable, clean and the a/c was more than adequate. The only problem we had was that the card reader to enter one of the entrances to our building was down and it was a little inconvenient to go around to the back entrance. Some of the reviewers were upset over the "view" from the window, which overlooked a very large cement tank. This was no bother at all to me or my wife, since we were literally right next door to Moody Gardens.

Room Tip: I have nothing to compare with, since we only stayed one night. However, we wandered down the hall f...

The staff is nice, the outdoor part of the property is nice, and the location is good, but to give a hotel a good review you have to have decent rooms. These are not. Not to put too fine a point on it, they stink. It's a combo of BO, stale smoke (coming off guests over time, not smoking in the rooms, which is forbidden), the lack of renovation and/or deep cleaning in too long a time, and ridiculous amounts of perfumes used to try to cover it all. I'm not picky, but I almost couldn't stand it. It would be manageable if the windows would open, but they don't - you can't get any fresh air in here at all to clear out the stench.

There also were wall items (picture, mirror) missing, and there were open cuts in the ceiling for the sprinkler system, which made the room look even more run down. In the hall, there were patches all over the ceiling due to water leaks. Also, their towels were dingy gray - they either don't use bleach (and this is a town where people do go to the beach and track in dirt, so they should expect sand and such in their towels!) or they don't replace towels except once in a blue moon.

If view matters to you, don't pick this place. Ugly, ugly tanks and other industrial views will make you jealous of pretty Moody Gardens next door.

Room Tip: There are 2 buildings - the main and a non-connected building with parking underneath. Insist on the...

We stayed there to visit Moody Gardens. It was perfect walking distance to Moody Gardens. We had a two day pass and were able to walk back and forth. The rooms were comfortable and all the people were very nice.

Room Tip: Great location to Moody Gardens
