“Bishops Palace”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 31, 2014

Parking can be a problem in more popular times. Actually is a misnomer. This is a mansion the RC Church purchased for an episcopal residence after the founder died. When the Bishop died, it was put on display and then sold to the Galveston Historical Society. They have done a much better job and engaged in an excellent restoration program.

“Gorgeous architecture”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 30, 2014 via mobile

If you love Victorian architecture, this is a must see. The house is amazing. The self-guided audio tour makes it no hassle to check everything out and get good information. In addition the staff are very engaging and eager to add tidbits of info in casual conversation.

“Such a beautiful castle!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 27, 2014

The Bishop's Palace is so beautiful. Everytime I see this place I'm in awe. However, this was the first trip that I actually got to tour it. It costs $10 to take a tour of the first 2 floors. They only open up the other part of the house occasionally. They were going to do that the next day, but we had a cruise we had to go on, so we didn't get to do it. However, we loved the $10 tour which includes a handheld device where you can put in the number of the room you are in and it will tell you some history. The woodwork and stained glass is beautiful.
It was worth the $10 to my daughter & I to go through the house.

“Beautiful Historic Home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 27, 2014

What a fun thing to do, we took a tour of the old home and it was interesting and a bit jaw dropping when we saw the interior of the home. Our guide, Carla was superb. We even enjoyed the gift shop at the end, picking up a magnet of the mansion.

“A good choice in a rainy day”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 24, 2014

We visited Galveston in a rainy December day. The rain and wind brought us into this historic building and the self-guided tour is quite informative. Both my teenage kids enjoy it. It is the second time we visit a "Palace", and the last one is Lolani Palace.
