“The Pirate Lafitte”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2013

Not a bad little show, while waiting to be seated the guy selling tickets told us how to find the historical marker located a few blocks away to help us tie the history and the movie together. Wish we had time to of watched some of the other shows offered.

If you collect those tourist pressed pennies they have a machine for The Great Storm, a 1900 hurricane that hit the area which is explained in one of the other movies offered.

“Pretty interesting”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 23, 2013 via mobile

Note: this is a video, not an IMAX. It provides historical background for the 1900 hurricane though it wasn't produced all that well and isn't exactly captivating. However, I think it's still worth a visit of you're in the area.

“quick look at the original Galveston”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2013

The Storm film explains who Galveston was before and after the 1900 storm. It is hard to imagine a city being able to rebuild and survive after such a huge loss of lives and of the town structure itself. It was an interesting.

“Very short and not enough info”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2013

We watched the 27 minutes of the "Great Storm" of Galveston at the Pier 21 Theater for $5 (with $1 off coupon). The theater is very nice and located just above Willie G's Restaurant. If you park in the neighboring lot, the theater provides a 2 hr. free parking ticket, whereas if you eat at one of the restaurants, they provide 3 hrs. of parking. The movie is of the great hurricane of September 1900 which killed an estimate of 6,000 people and virtually wiped out the island. The commentary in the movie tells a story of the event using original pictures and sketches of the destruction. There is some rare footage but not much. The story lightly touches on the rebuilding of the island by raising the surroundings and building the current seawall. The movie could have been more enjoyable if it included more about how they went about building the seawall. We just thought it seemed unfinished........
