This hotel is just average as the room is well kept but the location is average they say ocean view but the only views are from the parking lot. While we were there the elevator was broken along with every ice machine except the 3rd floor not a big deal as we were on the 2nd and right next to the stairs the pool is heated and very nice looking although we didn't get in as we were to busy walking to everything it's quite a walk to about everywhere so if you're not willing to drive and the trolley is not working I wouldn't recommend staying here and it costs to park everywhere

The rates are decent weekdays but weekends are a bit much. Free breakfast was great, staff was friendly. Nice heated pool! Surrounded by beautiful Palm trees makes a layout feel like paradise! Overall I give it a 4 out of 5. My main thing is the price. Rooms aren't quote up to par with the rate! Everything else is great!

I'm so glad red roof is up grading their hotels. The new decor is very inviting. We had a 4 the floor king with ocean view. We arrived early and the front desk had no problem getting us in our room. Unfortunately the elevators were out of order a minor inconvenience the staff was friendly and courteous. Our room had no offensive odor and it was a smoking room. We had a great time in Galveston .... If your life is on a budget and you need a vacation this hotel and city is the place to go.....

We stayed here in several rooms with family for Dickens on The Strand. Firstly, the staff was nice but their systems was apparently in shambles and it wouldn't give me the room that was booked. They ended up swapping me to a non smoking double instead of a smoking king. This was fine for me and my two friends but they also had to swap my parents around 4 times since the room was already booked, dirty, or smelled. The icing on the cake of being put on the 3rd floor was that the elevator were out of order. My room was clean but smelled like it was a refurbished smoker's room that had water damage in the distant past. I am fairly certain all the rooms smelled that way as both my brother and parents stated it as well.(s) were broken The shower installation looked a little odd like it had been finished recently with some plywood on the shower curtain mounts. The swing lock was broken clean off. The doors to the pool on the ramp side were broken. I could open it but I imagine someone disabled and unattended would have trouble. This was made worse by the fact that someone couldn't even hold the door open from the other side with steps since there was no access from one to the other.. The pool had a "pot hole" chunk on the bottom missing. It was heated and that was nice to soak our feet in and visiting the nearby beachfront with cold water. The only ice machine that apparently worked was on my floor and it was missing parts. The fridge worked great. AC worked great for me. Wifi was okay but it's free so it's hard to complain if it was slow. The extra table in the double room was a bit cumbersome.

Pros: awesome location, comfortable beds, awesome location. good fridge, good AC, plenty of safes.
Cons. Elevators, smell, broken or missing locks/doors, check-in system.

TLDR: They need to fix their software, their rooms, and their amenities.

Room Tip: Front faces the beach, sides face a grocery store or another hotel, and the back faces a cemetery...

After reading several other reviews, had mixed feelings, but was proven wrong. This is a simple, yet very nice place to stay, room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was simple, frozen waffles, oatmeals, cereals, and assorted breakfast pastries. If your expecting a five star hotel, this is not the place, but if you are looking for an inexpensive comfortable hotel, then we recommend the Red Roof Inn. There is also a Kroger grocery store which you can walk to in case you need anything. The beach is also right across the street, the view is very nice.

Thank you for the great review. We enjoy reading that you had a comfortable stay. Hope you had a chance to enjoy the heated pool or walk across the street to the fishing pier. Galveston Island is a great place to visit and this inn is great base to plan your excursions.

I look forward to seeing you on future trips to Galveston.

We loved the location. The rooms were clean and the beds were super comfy! The staff helped us with our luggage on our way out, they were very friendly. We will definitely be staying here again when we are back in the area.

This hotel used to be a nice hotel but not now. We had dirty carpet, no coffee pot, no coffee, no Kleenex; and when they gave us some Kleenex, they didn't have a box only two small packages. We discovered after 9 PM (when the front desk closes down) that we only had one hand towel and one washcloth. Red Roof was supposed to remodel and upgrade this hotel a year ago, but are doing nothing and it's getting worse. It is advertised as a place to park your car when going on a cruise if you stay there, but I wouldn't recommend staying there. We used to stay here quite often but won't stay there again until the remodeling gets done.
