“15 years and we still return as often as we can”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2011

My husband and I spent our wedding night at the Victorian Inn Bed and Breakfast in Galveston 15 years ago. It is still our favorite romantic get away. It is only a 4 hour drive from our home in Waco, Texas. The owner/hostess Marcy is the most wonderful hostess and best cook you'll ever find. She treats her guests like family. The gorgeous Victorian mansion was built in 1899 and is in excellent condition. I took over 100 photos of the well manicured grounds, pet rabbits, and beautiful decor/furniture/personality inside the house.

Room Tip: We've stayed in all three rooms. One has a king size bed. One has a private bath. One has an...

A perfect getaway for an older couple needing a little time away from all the hassles!
Marcy makes guests feel very much at home by allowing total access to the pantry,
parlour, garden etc. anytime. She's very warm and friendly (and does a really tasty
breakfast.) We are planning to return when we do our next "getaway from it all!"

We were visiting our daughter and attended Feather Fest. The Inn was in a perfect location, just 2 blocks from our daughter, about 1 mile from Feather Fest Headquarters and the Seawall beachfront. We had a car but walked alot in this beautiful neighborhood of largely restored Vctorian Homes. We could have done without a car and still have easily accessed some of the best restaurants in town on foot.

The innkeeper, Marcy H is a native Galvestonian but has traveled widely and is both historian and local activist. Marcy is currently working with local groups to replant tens of thousands of trees on the island that were lost in Hurricane Ike. We were sorry to miss the "Neighborwoods" tree distribution planned for the day after we left. Her spacious corner

At the Inn, Marcy responded to our every need for a full week. Meals were buffet style, healthy and ample. We came and went as we pleased and rarely ran into another guest even though we shared a hallway bathroom. It was like having our oun island home.

Our room, Laura's Room, was very lovely, comfortable and had a great balcony where I read and bird watched daily.

I was celebrating my daughter's 21st b-day and treating her to the CATS performance at The Grand. She wanted something with history. The mansion is gorgeous, Marcy is an angel, Laura's room was great! The bunnies are precious. If we could have fit him in a suitcase, we would have taken Mr. Kitty home with us. The breakfast was a delight! Can't say enough about this beautiful home and can't wait to go back! P.S. It was cold and drizzling rain the whole time but we still had a wonderful trip!

We needed a place to stay in Galveston for a conference. Unfortunately, because of Hurricane Ike, rooms for the conference were in short supply so I looked for a B&B. Well to my delight, I found the Victorian Inn. The owner (Marcy) was extremely accomodating as we needed to check in early. The room was very comfortable as well as charming. The breakfast was second to none and the owner got up extra early to prepare our meal so we could make our conference on time. Galveston has done a great job of cleaning up so soon after such a disaster. I recommend this place without reservation.

We needed to stay in Galveston, TX but had a little window of time to find a hotel. I decided to check out the B&B offered in the area. After looking at The Victorian Bed and Breakfast Inn's website www.vicbb.com and calling their number, I booked a suite for three adults. I told my wife not to expect too much since we have stayed at excellent B&B locations around the country.

Well were we pleasantly surprised! Not only is the house authentic, historic and decorated beautifully, the food, service and over-all atmosphere was peaceful and relaxed. Plenty of freedom, excellent security and the breakfast amazing, home made. Price is very reasonable as well. We absolutely loved our stay. I took time to write this review before we checked out because we were so impressed. This will be our location for Galveston from this point.

We frequently travel to Galveston, Texas to enjoy the coast or taking in a show at the Grand. This month we stayed at the Victorian Inn as a surprise treat for my wife's birthday, and I wanted to try a new place hoping for a special trip. And what a nice treat it was. Normally we are a "on the go" couple, but this time we wanted to rest and relax. This is the place. The mansion is over 100 years old and is in excelent condition. The room we stayed in (Laura's Room) was very roomy and had an outdoor balcony where we sat and watched the world go by. Inside the closet, two warm robes were provided as if we were at a posh hotel. The public sitting and lounging area is spacious compared to other B & B's. And the library....so many books to choose from. A special treat was the 24-hour snack station downstairs in the butler's pantry. Coffee, hot tea, nuts, cookies, etc were there whenever we wanted. The refrigerator was available for cool drinks and complimentary wine. We sipped it on the chairs on the balcony. At breakfast, Marcy prepared a feast of various hot items and other goodies, all more than we could eat. Being runners, Marcy even allowed us to go for a jog with her dog "Baby". We plan on returning and offer our complete recommendation without any reservations whatsoever. Overall...a positive experience without any regrets. Thanks Marcy!!! Anthony & Diane
