“Nice condo but a little overpriced”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 12, 2013

The furnished condo did not have simple things like WI-FI, paper towels, dish washing soap or coffee filters. There were no chairs inside so we had to bring in the plastic chairs from the balcony. The second bedroom had a bed that slid around on wheels when getting in or out and was very uncomfortable. No wifi was crazy, even McDonald's has wifi. Would not stay there again for what they charge.

Room Tip: make sure you are not near the seawall blvd because of the traffic noise,

Stayed here for one night in Feb. in unit 1204 prior to our cruise. We bid on a Galveston hotel on priceline and ended up with this dump for $152. We get there at 6 after the office is closed (flight into Houston was late) and therefore have no means by which to complain about how dirty it is and the disconnected phone. It was Mardi Gras so cabs aren't available for 1.5 hours so we walk the 1/2 block in the dark to the security desk to beg to use the phone to order pizza... the security gal was the only bright spot to our stay. The night continues with worn and faded bedding, bunk bed too short for our son so we attempt to use the hideabed...it is broken so my husband ops to sleep in a chair so my son can have a bed...crappy though it is.

The next morning when we go to check out the bill includes an additional $100.50 charge for resort fee(27.50), HOA fee(10), Travel Protection(12.50), Damage Protection(25), and Departure Fee(25.50). Isn't this what you pay for when you pay for a room to begin with? If you must stay in Galveston bite the bullet and just pay to stay at the nicest possible place as it will be cheaper than $252.78 per night for a dump.

An exceptional staff and 2303 condo owner made for a wonderful visit! Right on the beach, with a great view of the ocean and private access to wiggle your toes in the sand and surf. I enjoyed many walks on the beach. I highly recommend an extended stay in Galveston and Seascapes makes this an affordable option.

Room Tip: These are privately owned condos, so, they differ in quality. Take a look at 2303!

Booked a two-bedroom room the a beautiful view of the ocean back in April. Booked it for Thursday November 1 through Sunday November 4. On the day we were to arrive (Nov 1), we received a phone call while we were in route (4 hour travel) that there was a "maintenance issue" with the room. We were then placed in two one-bedrooms which did not make up for what we purchased. What are we to do at the last minute when you are already on the road? I called several times and asked what was going on and would the issue be resolved before the weekend is out, we were told no. They would not say what the issue was. Only that is was not able to be occupied. We went by the room and saw two pairs of tennis shoes outside the room. No one from the desk never followed up to clarify what went on. WITH A PLACE THAT HAS SO MANY RULES, we feel this was a breach of contract. I did not pay to be placed in a one-bedroom. The one bedrooms were too, too small and view we had was not the view we paid for. This place happen to be the place that was chosen for our group planned trip, so that is why the original reservations were made. NOW I KNOW WHAY I STAY IN BED & BREAKFASTS FROM NOW ON. No more hotels and condos for us--too impersonal. The only highlight was the guy in the guard shack . He came over and talked to us all the time. Will not return and would NOT recommend this place to anyone.

Room Tip: Do not be fooled by the photos on the website. Rooms are small.

We rented 1309 at Seascape in Galveston. Renting it for the weekend was about the same price as some of the nicer hotels on the sea wall. 1309 was nice- clean- stocked with nice, comfortable furnishings, lay out was roomy ( 2 bdrm/2bath/ and I believe a pull out couch- which we didn't need- but the couch was comfortable- especially if it was a pullout). Extras included wireless Internet, tv/dvd in livingroom and tv's in both bedrooms. The view was incredible. This unit also had a washer/dryer set in the master bathroom. We really liked the property. We didn't use the pool/hot tub but it looked nice and was maintained all weekend. I loved the swings- which were situated so you could enjoy the view. The property had beach chairs and umbrellas for rent- which was awesome. The property also has grills and picnic tables that face the gulf and looked maintained. I was impressed that the security on property was actually walking around and paying attention and my husband- who is in the security field noted they were certified security guards. The beach was easy to access and had a security gate. I had no idea that Galveston had property on the beach (not across from it). This property is located literally at the end of the sea wall (west) and it was maintained by the city while we were there (garbage pick up and beach cleaning both early mornings.). Another thing to note about our unit is how quiet it was. We didn't hear the cleaning units on the beach, we were just up that early. Actually when the balcony door was closed- we couldn't hear anything outside. Another plus was the parking. It was under the units- and the elevators and stairs super close. The property also provided luggage carts (several) to help carry our gear to/from our unit. All in all- we will return and would recommend this property and unit. BTW- if you are shopping around- please make sure to check the map where other property's are located. At least 6 other property's we considered are "ocean front" but from 61st to approx 81st there is not a beach- rather- rocks. We were so happy someone pointed that out on here. Our property- just as advertised- on the beach!!! Note- the units on the west side of the property face the RV park- I don't think I would have liked that. Our unit was facing the water- so it wasn't an issue. In regards to distance from "Galveston" we booked massages at the San Luis, ate out on the Strand and sea wall- no trouble coming going. It took us maybe 10 min to get to the San Luis- bit more on a busy wknd and about 20ish min to the Strand. A very close place to eat is Jimmies at the fishing pier. It's super casual but the view breathtaking and the food was good ( we had breakfast).

Our family just returned from our Galveston trip. We have stayed at Seascape many times. We love being right on the beach. The last two years we picked condos that faced directly on the beach. The key to a happy stay is doing your homework ahead of time. You MUST really study the units online ahead of time so you know what you are getting. Since they are each privately owned, you pay the same thing for a condo that is in great need of major updating as you do for one that has it all!! Book as far ahead as possible to get a really nice unt.

Room Tip: We like the following nicely updated Condos :1108 Nice! Corner deck has wrap around to side.Has extr...

I booked our condo as a result of the photos I saw online. They had a great photographer that made the condo look HUGE. There were only 4 bar stools to sit and eat. The rooms had 2 feet (max) around the bed to walk. The website said that the condo had been newly renovated. We had half an inch of mold around our bathtub, it didn't drain and it appeared that the unit hadn't been thoroughly cleaned in months. There was a dead fly in the microwave door, squeaky bed, flood light shining in one of the bedrooms causing us to sleep with pillows over our head and the super cheap sheets didn't fit the bed and kept coming off. The sealed bar soap even had a hair on it when we opened it.

We arrived around 2p, knowing check in wasn't until 3. The desk clerk told me he'd call me when the room was ready and that it should be "very soon." At 3 we went back to the office and it still wasn't ready. We had a crying baby and had been in the car since 8:30a. They eventually gave us our keys at 3:45 after we asked them to please let us in.

The only good thing...the beach was raked and clean. Until the last day (Sunday) when there was a massive amount of dead fish that had washed up on the shore. At 11a, that still had not been cleaned up.

Overall, we will not be staying here again. I understand it's a rental, but we paid almost $500/night and it was NOT a $500/night stay.

Room Tip: Read reviews!!!
