“Direct Beach Access...Loved it!!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 8, 2011

We just came back from Galveston from 4 days/ 3 nights at Seascape Condos. We were a family of 5 (2 adults & 3 kids/ages 3,4,10). We stayed in a 1 bedroom with a king bed, sofabed and bunk beds built in the wall. The bunk beds were alot more spacious than average bunks. Im so glad we looked online & were able to pick the room that we liked (decor). The room was exactly as pictured. We stayed in Room 2207 which overlooks the pool & the Gulf. We loved sitting on the balcony for breakfast looking at the ocean. We loved being directly on the beach. We were able to cook as we would at home during our stay which saved a lot on food/gas going to restaurants. The staff was friendly upon checkin/checkout. They give you green bands to wear while in the pool, but they were difficult to keep on the little kids. We just wore them for our 3 and 4 year old. We originally were thinking of staying at Casa del Mar (sister condos) but you actually have to cross the busy Seawall Street to get to the beach. At Seascape there's a gate between the condos and the beach. They have showers available to clean the sand as soon as you come into the gate. The parking garage is actually underneath the 1st floor units. However, all floors are accessible from the elevator or stairs. And since there are only 3 floors the wait for the elevator is never long. We even used the washer/dryers located on the 2nd/3rd floors to wash our sandy beach towels. $1.25 to wash & $1 to dry.

Pros. 2319 3rd floor, Property is on the beach and about average price for a one bed room condo.
Cons. The biggest complaint I have is the service from mangement. We arrived Thursday after 3pm and went to the beach for most of the evening. We came back to the condo and the toilet would not flush. We made a call to maintenace and left a message on the recorder. We didnt have a toilet until after 3pm Friday when the plumber showed up. Management did say we could use the pool restroom anytime on the first floor. Management also scheduled the owner to come and replace the ceiling fan in the living room on a Saturday afternoon. We had to stay in the room for two hours while he tried to fix it. He gave up and said he would come back another day.

We have stayed in Galveston every summer for 3-5 days for the past 15 years, and the Seascape was by far the worst place we ever stayed. Be sure to take everything you might need, including towels (unless you want to pay for them), dishes, pots & pans, toilet paper, paper towels, dish soap, etc. Oh, and a plunger! Our group of condo's (8 of them) barely had any cooking items, dishes, toilet tissue etc., as listed above...things that every other condo we have stayed at in Galveston has been furnished with. The bathroom sink was clogged when we arrived, the toilet the next day and then the kitchen sink. The telephone did not work, 4 towels were provided for a condo that was rented for 6 people, only 3 grills available for the entire complex. The refrigerator was 1/2 size of standard, the mattress in the fold out couch had springs sticking through it. The bedroom was so small that the bedroom door almost hit the full size bed when you closed it. If you did close it your rear end was hitting the makeshift closet door while getting out of the way of the door. It would sometimes take 5 minutes to get past the security guard at the front gate, even with the vehicle pass in clear view. Our group had 2 other families (5 people) that were to joining us, and bringing food for dinner one night, they were denied access, even with supposed prior arrangements. The kids were not allowed any pool toys (balls, etc.) in the pool, or on the grounds except on the beach. No music was allowed to be played anywhere except on the beach. Trash cans in the picnic area were always full. All in all this was by far the worst stay we have ever had!

Great service by staff and management--
Unit 2119--old cabinets, old refrigerator, and when you used the sink the water flowed into the dishwasher!!!! Couch was old and torn, bathroom furnishing were old and very used.
Staff apologized for what we endured.
After 3 days of swimming pool attendant asked my adult daughter for her ID--There were not many like us there and i was baffled--he said it was to keep beach walkers from using their pool. I surveyed the pool users and there were two adult women w/o ID's. He then asked where was my ID and I replied "Here on my left wrist", in plain view!!
Call Seascape ONLY for reservations--other agents will charge you more--that is another story.
The entire staff is phenomenal!!--Pool is great--BBQ and picnic area is great. Kelsey thanks--Cleaning Staff great--Desk staff Joy and Norma are professionals.

Room Tip: Stay away from Unit 2119

We stayed June 10-12 in Unit 1122. This was a 2 BR/2 bath condo w/bunk beds. We had 4 adults & (3) children under 5.

Overall we enjoyed our stay. If we could recommend one thing, would be for Seascape to provide a list of items that we needed to bring since this is not a typical hotel setting. Example, we were given 1 trash bag & each bathroom only had 1 roll of toliet paper. I went to office to ask for more toliet paper; I was told we were responsible for all of our consumables. They did end up giving us one extra roll.

Our unit has a great balacony, with an ok view. However, with this many people in the unit, we needed this size balacony. The patio table was essentially our dining table.

I know the units are individually owned, but we sure could have used a broom in our unit. The tile floors got very sandy.

The direct access to the private beach was awesome. There is a huge pool, with 2 hot tubs & 1 kiddie pool. It was so nice not to have to drive to the beach, which means we didn't get sand in our car. Yay!!

Yes, wearing the bands is annoying esp. trying to keep them on small children. But, it helps enforce the rules & identifies who is supposed to be there. The pool guards did enforce the rules. Example, we got in the hot tub that was 21 & up with kids. The guard very poliety came over & explained that this was the 21 & up area. Yes, it was a pain but i totally understand...if i was there without children I wouldn't want them in my "adult spa".

The grounds were clean. Each morning the porters were cleaning the pool & grounds.

Yes, it was a little pricey but worth the direct access to beach & awesome pool area.

Location is close to Walmart -- great for shopping or if you need to make a quick run.

The room our family got was great. It had a beautiful view of the ocean and a nice view of the pool. The beach is clean and great for building sandcastles with the kids. The rooms can hold up to 6 people and are very comfortable. I can easily say that the Seaascape is our favorite hotel in Galveston.

We spent our second Mother's Day weekend here. We stayed in the same unit we did last time and it was still wonderful. Unit 1305 has everything you could possibly want. The kitchen is very well equiped. There was a little more beach area this time as it continues to rebuild itself after the hurricane. I really enjoy staying here, the only things I can complain about this trip is that we only had one trash bag for a two night stay with 6 people, and.....you have to wear green arm bands to show you are staying there, which is fine, but at the office they say you do not have to "wear" them as long as you have them with you, but apparently the security at the pool is not aware of this policy. My sister in law actually got in an argument with the security guard over this. The bands are very large and hard to keep on a 6 year olds arm or leg. When my sister in law told the guard what the front desk clerk told us, they basically acted as if she were lying and made her put it on my niece. We had to tie it around her bathing suit. I understand the reason behind wearing these, but they need to find different ones if they are going to be soooo strict about them, and get together on their policies. 20 minutes after those security guards went off duty, another came around and started asking everyone all over again. It was very aggravating. When you pay quite a bit of money to stay somewhere nice, you do not expect to get harrassed at the pool area. However.....as this is my only complaint I will stay here again...and this is the fault of the management not the individual owner of the unit I rented who is very nice and helpful.
