“Great beach alternative”

Moody Gardens Hotel

We loved Moody Gardens. We had a friend with a beach house so had access to the beach. It is too chilly to swim in March so it was perfect to just go to the beach for a few hours to play. Then we could come back to the hotel for heated pool, hot tub and relaxation. We were very happy with the swim up bar, fun music, there were inflatable jumpers for the kids - plenty to do. We never got bored or had bad weather, but if we did, the rainforest, aquarium, IMAX and indoor schlitterbahn are right across the street. We will definitely go back. This hotel is very family friendly.

I took my three granddaughters to Moody Gardens Hotel for the fourth consecutive year at spring break. The hotel caters to children at this time with an assortment of activities , although the heated outdoor pool is the star of the show for them. This year, we stayed in the north wing in a wonderful room with generous bath and refrigerator. Housekeeping checked on us twice a day to replenish towels, etc, whatever we needed, and always with a smile. While rooms in the north wing are exemplary, this wing is quite a trek from the main lobby and facilities. A full buffet breakfast is served downstairs ($9.95 adults, $5.95 children). Parking is enclosed and complimentary unless you use the valet. A shuttle for hotel guests can be requested to the Moody Garden complex, aquarium and rainforest. Best of all, management and staff go out of their way to make your stay enjoyable and run as smoothly as possible. We will continue this tradition.

“Great Place”

Stayed here while attending a convention on sight. Great facilities, nice to be able to walk inside coordoors from the hotel to the convention center . The pool is great , the grounds are beautiful and has a great trail for walking/running. The exercize room is THE BEST I have seen at a hotel. The view from the rooms are good. The breakfast buffet was good but after 4 days it would have been nice to have some variety rather than the same offering every morning. All in all, a GREAT Place

While making our reservation, I had booked a room in the new wing(North tower), on a high floor and I had asked for a refridgerator and rollaway. We were given a room on the 4th floor with no view, no fridge, no rollaway. When I told the FD agent that this is not what I booked, she said they had a cheerleading conference and that this is what I get. Needless to say, all the cheerleaders were on our floor. It was extremely noisy all hours with the kids running up and down the halls. There was mold all around the tub, and it didn't drain. I called to have someone come and fix it, but noone came. The blow dryer was broken, the robes were missing from the room and the towels felt like sandpaper. Not something I would expect from a 4diamond hotel and an average 200$ per night room. I definetly did not get what I paid for.

“Wonderful experience... our 4th yearly visit”

We have just returned from our 4th yearly visit to Moody Gardens. Each visit has been a wonderful experience for my family. My children, ages 8 and 11, love visiting Galveston and its attractions. They also get to see their grandparents who winter on the island. The Moody Gardens Hotel has consistently been spotless, well-managed, courteous, and convenient to multiple attractions. The rooms are clean, spacious, and brightly and tastefully decorated. The bathrooms are marble and spotless. Twice daily maid service provides for all your needs. Soap, shampoo, etc. are replaced frequently. The rooms are completely smoke free ($150 charge from smoking in the room). The Moody Gardens center is wonderful for children especially if time is taken to fully appreciate the details of the exhibits. We routinely purchase family memberships which are valid for one year and allow unlimited visits to the aquarium, rain forrest, Imax, etc. Adjacent to Moody Gardens is the new Schlitterbahn water park which is fun but not a highlight for us as the weather in February is usually cool. The pool at Moody Gardens Hotel, however, is the focus of our vacation. The water is nearly bath water warm allowing for swimming no matter how cool the outside temperature. An indoor lap pool is also available. We also enjoy visiting the Lone Star Flight Museum where many fine examples of primarily WWII warbirds are displayed. Nearly all are in perfect flying condition. The seawall and ocean are less than a mile away and always fun to visit in the summer. Beaches on Galveston, although not as nice as those in Carribbean, are none-the-less lots of fun. The kids especially love the moderate surf. Dining on the island is varied with excellent seafood (Gaidos and Waterman's), Itallian, Mexican, Bar-B-Q. We particularly like breakfast at the Mosquito Cafe. Other very nearby attractions include NASA (Space Center Houston), Battleship Texas & Texas Monument, Galveston Ferry (fun for the kids to try), and Houston. We plan to spend next year's school winter vacation back at Moody Gardens. Clearly, we are 100% satisified with our experience at Moody Gardens.
