Beautiful hotel that is 103 years old with plenty of old world charm. It is funny how others commenting on the rooms being small,,,,,,,the place is beautiful and over 100 years old. They did not make rooms huge a long time ago. The Sunday brunch is amazing and the hotel location is GREAT!

Room Tip: Ask for ocean view

We stayed for a night with family and had a wonderful experience!
From check-in we felt as if we were in a hotel dating back decades, with some modern touches. The entry is amazing with a modern bar with a gentleman playing piano and restaurant off to the right. The elevators look us to our room with lots of cool old features. (i.e. the old mail shoot on each floor) The room were smaller, but expected with a 100 year old hotel (plenty of room for a family of 3). Huge bathroom, flat screen tv, fridge, safe and comfy beds.
*View of the beach (across the street)
*Walk to the pier
*amazing pool area
*resturant has great food
*small gift shop

In the AM we ran into a nice maintenance worker who pointed me to a very old photo (if you go it's near the restrooms, look hard, so what you can find) which lead to a story of this amazing place. Yes, I'm sure you've read, this place is said to be haunted. We spoke for 30 minutes or so and were directed to a very nice old gentleman (the concierge, and his name escapes me) who told us even for fun stories..... he gives ghost/hotel tours daily...

such a cool place, we will be back... ghosts and all!!!

While the hotel is old, it has quite a classy feel to it with several modern features. WiFi is throughout the hotel and has decent speed. Great access to the beach. Due to a morning shower my morning beach jog was cut short, but the hotel fitness center is great. Very clean and up to date equipment. Utilized the valet and shuttle for our cruise out of Galveston. Very easy. Shower is a little annoying but not unbearable, curtains like to flap in the breeze. Breakfast was quite good as well, not overly expensive.

Historic hotel and spa right across the street from the SeaWall. Amazing view of the Gulf. Excellent staff. So friendly and willing to advise on best dining places, shopping, etc. Bicycles are available on loan -no charge.

Room Tip: Live in a landlocked area, so we just had to have the ocean/beach view. Windows would not open so we...
