This a a grand old hotel. The grounds are well-manicured, the staff is gracious, and it's right across from the beach. Our room was nice, but we booked well in advance and didn't have a beach view, there was no desk for my husband to use to work on, and the shower felt like needles shooting into my body. We ate a small meal in the restaurant, and it was very good. The service was excellent, and we could hear the live piano from the bar. The lobby is beautiful and spacious. We didn't take advantage of the pool or spa, so I can't comment on those aspects. There was one robe in the room, not two, and there was no water or anything like that. When you travel as much as we do, you're always looking for the creature comforts that many hotels offer for free. We would probably try somewhere different next time we go to Galveston.
