Where to start! I would say this is the worst hotel experience ever. Surprised to find the hotel going through renovation and atmosphere was very depressing...when I made reservatons directly with the hotel we were not informed. Had to enter through the back of hotel, very run down neighborhood, carry luggage up stairs as no ramp available.

Our room for $200!!! Tiny tiny tiny. So small the chair was placed under the TV so you hit your head if you tried to sit down, air conditioner unit was pointed directly at the bed so you were in a wind tunnel when trying to sleep, and lots of street noise. The "ocean" view began with looking directly at the 1st floor roof and the iron railing of the fire escape. Can't believe we had to pay $200 for this.

Then there was the restaurant. Food was very good but getting our food took forever. While the staff was nice, they were very untrained and it seemed like they had never worked in a restaurant before. Actually all the entire hotel staff seemed untrained.

Perhaps in its day this Hotel was grand but now the grounds were quite worn out and the surrounding area dingy.

Thank you for your feedback on your stay. I'm sorry that you did not enjoy the hotel. Unfortunately your stay was during the few days when we were replacing the floor tile at the main entrance. That part of our renovation project is now complete. Typically, our guests enter through our circular driveway which faces the Gulf of Mexico. We are nearing the end of our lobby and restaurant renovations and we look forward to opening our new Galvez Bar & Grill. We hope that you will give us another try later this year.

From the pictures and other reviews, the hotel looks amazing. The rooms are ok, but the restaurant food and service were poor. We asked four people for water after we sat down, and each server would go and tell someone else. We finally had to ask the restaurant manager for water. After that, we just got up and poured our own. Other guests were also helping themselves to water because no one else was doing it. The hotel sits across the street from an amazing looking beach, but the beach is so dirty and covered with trash that you would never walk bare foot on it let alone swim in the water. The pool servers were good as were the front desk staff, but doesn't make up for the rest of it.
