Just returned from our stay at the Galvez and I can't wait to return again!! It's a grand old hotel that is absolutely gorgeous from the outside with well-maintained grounds. The rooms might need a little TLC, but they are quite modern and kept up for a hotel that is over 100 years old.

The location cannot be beat. The stretch of beach directly across seems quieter than the rest of the seawall with a bit of exclusivity to it. The pool was gorgeous and heated. The only drawback we encountered was the pool staff. The have a swim-up bar and when we swam up for a drink we were ignored repeatedly by the bar staff. We even said. "hello, excuse me" and the girls working there turned around, looked at us and continued to ignore us. They turned their backs on us! We said hello again and they wouldn't even turn around, so we swam away.

This was quite unexpected since the rest of the hotel staff were so nice and helpful. Nonetheless, we won't let it deter us from staying at the Galvez again. Everything else was just right.
