“A must in Gainesville TX!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 4, 2013

I come to Gainesville every year and just found this place. It is 300 yards from my hotel.Great service, Ginger was an awesome server. Great spinach dip, with a touch of bacon. Had Chicken fried steak. did not need a knife. fork tender and very good flavor!! Interesting and good potato salad. Great atmosphere. Try it when passing by Gainesville, just off Caifornia St exit ............

“Nice Pub”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 5, 2013

This has a very distinctive pub atmosphere, having been to London pubs 5 times, the drinks are well mixed and very tasty, and I might add OUTSTANDING service. Now the food is another story, all I can say is its food, nothing to write home about. We had the Chicken Fried Steak and French Dip Sandwich, they were just okay. Go and have a few drinks with friends and enjoy the place, give the food a try and hope for the best.

“Stop at the pub!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 11, 2012

We know that Winstar has a few restaurants right in the casino but we thought we'd stop and see what Gainesville, TX had to offer. We had traveled past the city many times on our trip to the casino but never took a "look see". This time we had a couple of days to relax and enjoy the casino so we thought we'd travel about 6 miles back to Gainesville during our stay and take a break before hitting the machines again. You can't blink or you'll miss the main part of town. It's quite small but very pleasant and, weather permitting, easy to find your way around. On the corner of Main and Chesnut streets sits the Main Street Pub and Steakhouse. It is a big dining room with plenty of seating and a long bar if you prefer to just have a cocktail. The interior has more history than some museums. The framed photos on the walls give you an idea of what Gainesville used to be like. The wall with the photos of the war heroes from Gainesville with their stories is fantastic. The kids will enjoy the huge steer heads mounted on the walls. Our waitress, Ginger, was outstanding with service as well as personality. You won't have a problem finding something to eat. The menu is quite extensive and there is a special lunch menu. We had the old fashioned pot roast dish with potatoes, carrots, and cooked celery. A salad was included. We enjoyed our lunch so much that on our way home the next day we stopped by for lunch. My French Dip was excellent but my husband thought the thin hamburger with potato chips left a lot to be desired, especially for almost $8, We will stop in again not only for the food but for the great casual and inviting atmosphere!

“Main Street Pub for Supper”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 1, 2012

My rainbow trout was excellent; Judy's pork cutlet entree was good. Jamie was great as our server. And others checked on us also. Seems to be a rather happy staff. Cost was reasonable. We enjoyed the photos of olde Gainesville that lined the walls along with the framed Medal of Honor winners. We will be happy to return.
