We were overwhelmed by the number of B&Bs available in and around Fredericksburg but in the end, narrowed our criteria to something very nice (at the upper end of our price range but we splurged since we were celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary) and a little bit out of town. Our cabin (Calico) was plain on the outside but luxurious on the inside; exquisitely decorated with a combination of old and new for a warm and welcoming feel. It was our little home-away-from-home for three days and it was wonderful to come back to after our daily excursions. What appealed to us most were the open floor plan, unique architectural details (the owners did most of the work and all of the decorating and it definitely had a sense of the pride and pleasure that they had put into it), and most of all, the magnificent jacuzzi tub in one corner of the bedroom. Everything from the Nautica towels to the breakfast pastries they provided from Rather Sweet Bakery in town was first class. The owners were friendly, attentive to our needs, and always available but otherwise practically invisible, which suited us perfectly. Breakfast was put in our fridge every day while we were gone and it was fun to come "home" and see what goodies were on the menu for the next morning. We were very pleased with our stay and would definitely consider going back.
