“Not quite like Germany, but close”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 3, 2013

If I'd never been to Germany I'd probably give this 5*. This place comes close, but just doesn't quite have it down.

The food is well prepared with all the traditional German menu items available. German beer selection is the best I've seen in the US, for that alone it's worth a visit.
The meats were very good, it was in the veggie department that the taste was lacking. The Saurkraut and cabbage were too vinegary compared to the real thing

Service was good with young locals doing the waiting. Atmosphere was good - lively and crowded with lots of German decor around. If you're visiting Fredricksburg give this place a shot.

“Homemade Sangria”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2013

The homemade sangria was really great here! We only went for drinks and music, but the food looked good if you're a fan of German food! Worth a try!

“Good German Food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2013

I was very impressed with the food at the Auslander. It stayed true to it's German roots and was very tasty. The staff was very polite, helpful, and knowledgeable about the food and we were given great food recommendations to assist in our order. I will definitely be back.

“Enjoyed, great beer selection”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 27, 2013

the meats were great (sausage and jagerschnizel), the red cabbage wonderful, but the potato pancakes and spaetzle had been prepared well prior to serving and were disappointing, not warm.

Great selection of beer and nice atmosphere.
