“Dissapointed”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2011

We got a smoking room, because my friend smokes and I was hoping to give her a break from going outside to smoke. We walked into the room and the stale smoking smell was overwhealming. We got the staff to spray the room with special stuff and leave us some room spray but nothing ever really cured it. I have been to other places where their smoking rooms were not so 'strong'.

The room itself was nice, no complaints on it, except one of the light switches by the bed was broken and the microwave kept beeping after we used it, so we had to unplug it.

The breakfast was a bit disappointing. Guess I am getting used to being able to have sausage or bacon and eggs. Here they did have sausage gravy and biscuits and boiled eggs, besides the waffles and cereals.

The hotel is new, nice outside and in otherwise. Bed was rather uncomfortable.

We stayed here for one night on 7/31/11, and had a great stay. We called late in the evening (after 10 pm) and were quoted a rate of $75 "since it was so late," $10 less than the price offered online, and significantly less than most other places in town.

We were impressed with the friendliness of the front desk staff. We loved our room. It was modest, but had everything we needed (including a desk, fridge, and microwave), and was one of the cleanest hotel rooms and bathrooms I have ever seen. I also noticed that all of the appliances and lightbulbs were energy-efficient, which even if the result of an owner attempting to save money, impressed us. There was also an allergy protective cover on the mattress! The grounds and building and hallways were well kept up. Overall, it seems like someone is taking good care of this hotel!

The location is just a few blocks from the downtown shopping/tourist as well as 290 back to Austin.

There was free high speed wireless internet and a complimentary breakfast. The breakfast was mostly carbs, though there were boiled eggs and apples (but no yogurt).

Great hotel, and will definitely come back.

Our room was not ready for check in until 4:30 and when we finally got in we were knocked over by the sickening sweet smell of room freshener. They must have used a gallon and apparently I am allergic. No other rooms available so staff did fix the smell by putting in an ozonator for 2 hours. Turns out sheets were very gritty so next morning I asked front desk to please change sheets and they agreed. Luckily I marked them to be sure and was so surprised that upon our return they were not changed. Went back to front desk and was told that they would only change the sheets every other day. When I again explained the problem they were extremely rude and hateful about it but finally did change them. Next set of sheets were still gritty. Outside security doors were unlocked entire stay, toilet seat broken, and someone else's hair was in our shower. As we left we were given a token $25 gift card for BEST Western. Are they kidding?

Clean, no frills. Short distance to area attractions. I was concerned about it being significantly cheaper than other motels in the area but took a chance because of the Best Western name. They did not disappoint. Although I enjoy my motel rooms cold, the a/c seemed to struggle against the 100+ temps that week. Room never got too warm but could have been colder. The maid had sticky fingers so don't leave things in the room while away. I left several unopen drinks in the frig and returned to find them gone. I had a stack of travel brochures on the table I did not get to read which were also gone. Walls and ceiling were poorly insulated but not so bad to keep me from coming back.

This is a reasonably new hotel located some 6-8 blocks from the main town area. You would need a car to get to town with ease. Clean rooms with in-window air conditioner.
Lobby is nice and accommodating. They have several hot items on the menu for breakfast. There are other tables to sit at for breakfast arond the corner from the main serving area.

We stayed 2 weekend nights which was considerably bit higher than for weekdays. You can get a better rate by booking online but do it early. The online site may show they are sold out but they may have rooms if you call the hote. However, the price is usually higher.

Fredricksburg has a number of nice hotels and they are usually booked up in the Spring. Be sure and book early.

Room Tip: Book Online early to get the best rates.

Spent 2 nights over memorial weekend. Although property appeared to be sold out, it did not effect the quality of service or the accomodations received. Clean rooms and property. Friendly and professional front desk and housekeeping services. Continental breakfast was fine. Close to main street, although not walking distance. For the price this hotel offers excellent accomodations below the cost of a B&B.

The hotel is unbelivably noisy. If you are upstairs you will have to tip toe. The A/C could hardly keep up and we were there in April. the rooms were hot when we arrived and it took hours for it to cool down. We were charged a rate higher than we were quoted on the phone. We had a suite and adjoining room which were seedy at best. Way over priced!
