Located just northeast of Fredericksburg, this 13 mile road trip traverses ravines, ranches and rugged, rocky hill country. We traveled the route in both directions, on different days, and preferred the south-to-north trip.
There was a fair display of bluebonnets and wildflowers on an off-year. Still, it was worth the drive to see wild countryside and vistas of the hill country. The road is narrow, and you have to pay attention to oncoming traffic, but it is an easy drive, with lots of cattle crossings to keep your speed down. The road is through private land, so no stopping is permitted.
We love back roads, and this will be a destination that we will drive again!
