“Nice but had a few problems”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 21, 2010

We did enjoy our stay at the Front Porch but there were a few things that could be improved. It was relatively clean but the front room furniture could use a cleaning or be replaced. The front door had a large space between the door and threshhold that bothered me as I don't like creepy, crawly things like snakes. It was in a good location, however, - near to downtown but yet fairly quiet. There was some traffic on the street but didn't seem too bothersome. Guess the main complaint was the sign saying that occupants should take good care of the very expensive bed ensemble. We did take it off and lay it on the front room furniture. Luckily, we both were ready to go to bed at the same time as, otherwise, there would have been no place to lay it. I think a $3,000 bed ensemble is out of place there - I would have been more comfortable with something a little less fancy and not so delicate. Overall, a good experience. Oh, one more thing - the voucher for breakfast was fine but, really, $12 for 2 people! A bit chintzy considering at other bed and breakfasts, you get wonderful breakfasts!

My husband and I absolutely loved the back porch! The private porch area was so nice. We loved the layout of the bed and breakfast. We had such a great stay and certainly hope to return soon!

This was a unique B&B experience. We had to check in at a different location. This is where we paid the balance and were given the room key. Oddly, we also have to return here to return the key?! It was just like checking into a hotel. I would have rather met with the owner who would have been more invested.

The Front Porch location was okay. It is on a busy street and you hear cars al night. But it is in easy walking distance to everything! The room certainly was cheesy and previous guests had taken the extra time to place nasty tiissue paper on the ceiling above the bed.

The absolute best thing was the mattress. We have never experienced a mattress so well suited for our needs

We stayed at the Front Porch for our 23rd Wedding Anniversary. We looked at many different B & B's searching for the "perfect" one for us. What a great choice we made with the Front Porch! From the comfortable king size bed to the charming decor, everything was perfect! We especially loved the bathroom with the ambiance fireplace and whirlpool tub for two. We enjoyed the fact the we were within walking distance to the shops and restaurants in Fredericksburg although we ate a few of our meals "in" because we didn't want to leave the cozy and romantic atmosphere! . We definitely choose the Front Porch again!!

My wife and I chose to spend our five year anniversary somewhere relaxing, peaceful, and away from the fast pace of the bigger cities as we had in recent anniversaries, and Fredericksburg offered the perfect setting (however, there is much to do in Fredericksburg that is very enjoyable!) We chose the Front Porch Bed and Breakfast because it looked cosy and fit the description of our wants. Upon arrival to our cottage we found that we were not going to be displeased. It was a very nice cottage that provided the ammenities that we wanted (I could sleep for days in that bed!), roomy enough for the two of us, and very close to the downtown activites (1 minute drive to Main St......Literally!) We felt that our Fredericksburg trip would be a nice once in a lifetime trip that we would take but after last weekend we have agreed that we would love to go back and we only pray that the Front Porch will be available at that time. We would like to thank the owners of this nice little cottage for allowing us to stay there for our special occasion whci help provide a truly warming experience.

Sincerely,

The Arnolds

My husband and I stayed in March and it was so nice! We are looking for good B&Bs. It's within walking distance of all the shops/restaurants on Main St. and the room was very cozy! The only thing is that the walls were very thin, so we could hear all the noises (coughing, TV, etc) from the guests in the attached part of the house (the other porch). But that was ok...we still enjoyed it!

Reservation on-line was a breeze. Residence was ready when we arrived for the two-night stay. It was super clean and just as advertised. The large spa/tub was delightful. Downtown is in walking distance. Innkeepers were very nice and courteous. Couldn't have been better. We intend to go again next year.
