My wife and I live in a very fast paced world. Between us we put in 30 plus hours of overtime each week. We had a friend recommend Becky and Joe's place. He said he would personally guaranty it to be nice, clean, neat, and quiet. We needed a weekend away, to just unwind. We drove six hours straight and arrived at 1:30 in the morning. Becky left the lights on in our cabin and described which one was ours. We arrived exhausted, to the most beautiful and quaint one room cabin. We had the room rented for two nights. We woke up the next morning to a knock at the door. It was Becky, at 9:00 am, with breakfast in hand. She has to be a gourmet cook. The breakfast was out of this world. Another guest said they has stayed there numerous times and never had the same breakfast twice. The bacon is to die for. It rained most of the day Saturday. We decided to run into Fredericksburg for a little shopping. They even have things for us guys in several of the shopping poetics. We went back to the cabin, took a nice long nap. That night, they were having a private concert for all who rented the cabins and a couple other close friends. To our surprise it was Kenny Grimes and Thomas Michael Riley. They serenaded us for two hours in an old one room school house. On the way back to the cabin, we turned in at the gate and saw between 40 and 60 deer in front of the cabins. I got up the next morning at day light. I watch deer on both sides of the cabin and took pictures. We spent most of the day indoors just relaxing. We had such a tremendous weekend. We asked if they had any cabins open for rent that night. She said she had the Honey Moon sweet available. We said we would take it for one more night. It was Superb.
Anyone needing a weekend to a nice quiet getaway, this is the place. The owners are fabulous and down to earth. The scenery is gorgeous, especially when the blue bonnets are in. The wild life is everywhere. If you enjoy watching deer, you need to get up early or be on your porch at sunset and watch them. They will be on both sides of your cabin. If you happen to wake up during the night, sometime after midnight, shine your flash light into the field in front of your cabin. You will see eyes shining all over the field. There will be from forty to a hundred sets looking back at you.
If you decide to leave your cozy country cabin, there are several things you need to do. Have Becky or Joe tell you the most scenic roads to take. If you are a wine tester, visit one of many vineyards, and you must eat at Coopers. Here is just one more of many possibilities. Ease down by the fire and make your own smorge. They will provide you with a smorge. Enjoy some great company from people from all around and especially, spend time with two great people, Becky and Joe Howard of Tonkawaya Ranch. Visit them on line at http://www.tonkawayaranch.com/
We have stayed from Louisiana to Florida and Tennessee and Colorado, and many more places. We have found none better than Becky and Joe’s at Tonkawaya Ranch. Too our new friends in Fredericksburg, we love you and are trying to find any excuse to go back to the best kept secret, Tonkawaya Ranch.
Love Mr. and Mrs. Sandy and Susie Daniel
P.S. Everyone; we enjoyed it so much, we already have a cabin booked for another weekend getaway.
