Ranked #49 of 113 Restaurants in Fredericksburg
Description: We are a very small, authentic mexican restaurant that invites the public to partake in Hilda's own family recipes. Hilda started this business over 10 years ago as a carry-out only tortilla factory. She has been very fortunate and worked really hard to now have a full service restaurant complete with a full bar. Even with the growth of the restaurant we still have a remarkable amount of carry-out orders and still offer tortillas, chips, salsa and other retail items for sale on a daily basis. We are also proud to offer full service catering!

“Good choice, Good service, Fresh, Clean”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 1, 2011

Wish a "Good" rating existing. Hilda's was better than average, but not very good in all aspects. Our server was attentive and entrees were good, but not remarkable. Salsa, however, was very good with a late heat kick. Salsa is served in squeeze bottles with individual bowls - nice touch. Usual offerings, plus seafood and several creative dishes, like potato tacos which sounded unique and good, but did not deliver. The three tacos were greasy and lacked flavor. I ate only one. The rice was clean, but a little bland. This was offset by the tasty charro beans. Very fresh, crisp lettuce and flavorful shredded cheese. Would have ordered fish tacos, except they are made with talapia - at least they print this on the menu so diners do not have to ask. Avoided the shrimp tacos for the same imported reason. Taco salad was good - a reasonable size for lunch - again topped with that good lettuce and cheese. Would try Hilda's again if we were on that side of town. Next order would be the relleno - that would be the test for me. Dining room is pleasant and clean. Gets very busy and a little loud at lunch.

“Best Tex-Mex in Fredericksburg”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 9, 2011

All the standards, plus some nice additions that keep things interesting. Great fish tacos and green enchilladas. They make their own tortillas and both their mild and their hot salsas are excelent.

“BREAKFAST here is a winner”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 8, 2011

Living here in Fbg., it's always easy not to go to the restaurant for breakfast, as they have Hilda's breakfast tacos at convenience stores all over town. Most local folks stop at one of many stores on their way to work and the tacos are gone before 8:00 a.m.! Saves waiting in line at the restaurant - BUT - if you are a visitor, or want a sit down breakfast, add Hilda's to your must go spots. They have a huge variety of breakfast burritos that can be ordered as dine in or to go. But my favorite breakfast is Migas. For those who aren't Tex-mex savvy, Migas is fried tortillas, simmered in a spicy sauce, and tossed with scrambled eggs and fresh peppers and cheese. As a breakfast meal, Hilda's serves with fresh (FRESH - as in home made) refried beans and warm flour tortillas. Unless you are a very hungry eater there's more on your plate than your eyes can handle and plenty to share... and a side plus is that it is an inexpensive morning meal. Lunch is always crowded too, with locals. So - if you want to experience "where the locals go" - put Hilda's on your list! Located on Hwy 16 headed towards Kerrvile at Tivydale Road.. not really out of the way, but off Main Street.

“Delicious”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2011

This place is a little off the beaten path but worth the 5-10 minute drive out of town. They're really spruced up the place over the last several years when they tore down the old site and built a new site with sit-down dining as well as the usual take-out. I go there every chance I get when I'm in town, well worth getting up early to beat the crowds. They have a range of breakfast burritos that are delicious, and then some other menu items which I have not tried yet. Weekdays are busier and the burritos go quickly, but I usually get there around 7:30 am on a Saturday with no issues. Closed on Sundays (to my wife's and my disappointment.
