Owner description: Formerly the Nimitz Museum, the complex is now America's only museum centered on World War II's Pacific campaign. Since 1968, the Museum has expanded to occupy a six-acre campus and gained a reputation as one of the premier military museums in the nation. Over the years the Museum was upgraded and enlarged, and the campus grew to accommodate the Memorial Courtyard, the Plaza of Presidents and the Japanese Garden of Peace. We opened the expanded George H. W. Bush Gallery in 2009. The Gallery's state-of-the-art 33,000 square foot exhibition features 40 media installations, approximately 900 artifacts in 97 climate-controlled cases, 15 macro-artifacts, and hundreds of photographs. Two blocks east of the main campus is the Pacific Combat Zone for guided tours of macro-artifacts and regularly scheduled combat re-enactments.

“Awesome Museum!”

This museum has a very nice wall memorial for those who served in the Pacific under Admiral Nimitz! Loved it! :)

“WWII Museum exceeds expectations”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 16, 2012

May be better than museums in Normandy and Pearl Harbor (I have been to these as well) ... except for the fact that you are not on site!!

“worth the time”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 15, 2012

48 hour ticket is definitely needed, especially if you can't stand or walk for long periods. The information is indepth and worth the time, exhibits are very well done. Having been to Pearl Harbor, this is a pretty good alternative, if you can't get to Hawaii. Encourage everyone to go, take school groups, etc.

“Great museum”

Great museum, clean and very informative. Don't let the location and small store-front appearance fool you. This museum is HUGE!!

“A must see for all ages”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 13, 2012

I've seen lots of museums and this one is the best I've seen devoted to the Pacific War. It goes island by island. I enjoyed seeing all the military equipment. The cost of admission allows you to have a audio tour. Be sure to bring your camera. Your ticket is good for two days, I didn't spend that much time but could see how it could take that long. There are LOTS to see.
