“Cowboys and Steelers take over the hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 17, 2012

We landed a good rate via Hotwire for two nights this past weekend. Little did I realize that it was a home game in Dallas this past weekend when I booked! But we were in town for Adoption Day at the courthouse, so no choice in the date. Downtown and hotel Christmas decorations were nearly overshadowed by the colorful fan jerseys. Our room was really quite comfortably appointed and large, the bathroom enormous (everything really IS bigger in Texas). Hotel staff were lovely, most especially the housekeeper I tracked down at 4 pm, since our room had been overlooked. We were just putting our baby to bed for a nap and were content to forgo a cleaning/turndown, so she provided up with a boatload of fresh towels & an armload of the fab PeterThomasRoth toiletries. Oh, and the Heavenly bed - it lives up to its name - was recreated in a Heavenly crib (although they kept forgetting to bring it up and we had to call down)!! Our babe snuggled down and NAPPED. The location is terrific, a stroll up the street to Sundance Square (which is a big construction site), where babe had her first visit with Santa beneath the enormous town tree. The courthouse was a few blocks away, too, so we only had to move the car. About parking: at the hotel it is $15/day, so we parked at a lot close by for $5. As of 6 pm, the metered on-street parking is free, as are the weekends. Eating out with a babe can be a challenge, but we had a fantastic dinner with even better frozen margaritas at Mi Cocina, again just a stroll away from the hotel. We don't have any plans to return to Ft Worth anytime soon, but we'll definitely return to the Hilton group.

Thank you for staying with us this past weekend and for taking time to review your stay with us.
I am pleased you enjoyed your stay and appreciate your comments. I am pleased that you "discovered" Downtown Fort Worth especially during the holiday season and the Football Season. We are kinda remember the first time we met Santa- at least from the pictures we were shown. Next year the location of the tree and Santa will even be better with an all new "Plaza" being created in Sundance Square. Thank you again and Happy Holidays.

“The difference between good and great are in the details!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed December 15, 2012 via mobile

As a "Diamond" member you do not get "Diamond" service. After spending over 85 nights at Hilton properties this year, I can say this is one of the worst and its all because of the disregard the staff has for the details.

First, when a co-worker and I arrived, we asked the valet to keep the car in front so we could check-in then come back for our bags. The valet (Rene) agreed we could do this. After standing in line for a long time without being able to check-in, I decide to go ahead and get my bags so they could move the car and free up a spot in the driveway. When I go outside I see my car chirping the wheels as it speeds down the driveway to the garage. I asked the other valets why my car was moved, they said, "Rene was a idiot". (Their words, not mine although I agreed).

Second, after I get my bags I finally check-in. While checking in, Katherine tells me that I got an upgrade. That's great right? (My co-worker did as well) When I go to my room it appears to be a regular room. I go to my co-workers room and he definitely got an upgrade and has a couch, view, and etc. so good for him but he is a "Gold" member and alas, I am "Diamond". Not to sound snobby but I've spent double the amount of nights in Hilton properties than him and have spent a lot more money to get my status therefore when Katherine at the desk says I have a upgrade, she should be able to tell the difference between "Gold" and "Diamond".

Third, my co-workers upgraded room smelled like smoke...bad! He is not a smoker and I am and it was bad for me too. FIX IT!!!

Fourth, the breakfast in the "Executive Lounge" is terrible at best. I'd rather eat the powdered eggs at a Hampton Inn than the runny stuff served there. Additionally, the pastries are bland and tasteless. In the afternoon they advertise having "snacks". Six different types of trailmix and the same fruit from breakfast does not make a snack. Also, how do you know who is qualified to be there? Nobody checked anything and the elevator is available for everyone to go to the 15th floor for the Hampton Inn quality bacon in the morning.

Fifth, when making up a room, pay attention to the details! Open the curtains, fold the bath mat and wash cloth the same as you did when I arrived? Making the flower design with the towels takes 10 seconds even if your missing your right arm. The room should be just as welcoming as when I arrived. This shows complacency after a person checks in. Aren't you working for repeat business?

That should be it for now even though I can say more. Knowing that some of the managing staff does actually read these comments, I will recommend a solution. Call The Wit hotel in Chicago (it's a Double Tree) and talk to them about customer relations and service. Go to The Wit for a week and get a class in having class. They are by far the most amazing hotel in terms of service that I have ever been to and I'm sure just a phone call with them can provide insight and results.

Lastly, ok, sixth, sweep the friggin driveway! You have 6-8 valets on duty in the evening but have cigarette butts on the ground all around the front door and even plastic cups in the bushes next to the front door (with more cigarette butts). Put the valets to work! Clean your front door!! It is the first impression when someone arrives to be greeted by a unprofessional valet staff.
Fix these items and I may give you a second chance and a better eval. After all, as a Diamond member, it is obvious that I am loyal to Hilton properties, be loyal to me and provide me with the top notch hotel that I expect and pay for!

“Dated and in need of TLC”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed December 14, 2012

I was at this hotel for a conference and this stay will be my first and last. The overall feel of the hotel is dated and dingy. My room was gross. There were stains on my carpet that several of us agreed could be blood. I was missing a closet door. The drain in my shower would not allow water to drain and I was forced to unscrew the stopper to allow the water to drain.

The food in this hotel is awful too. Breakfast in the restaurant was bland and very pricey. The conference food is the worst I've ever had, and that's saying a lot. It's no wonder that the lobby Starbucks was always busy. Despite being given breakfast at our conference o Ed half of the attendees bought breakfast at Starbucks daily.

The hotel is pretty convenient to downtown Fort Worth restaurants and nightlife.

Thank you for taking time to review your stay. I really do appreciate your comments. I apologize . The hotel will begin later next year a room "refresh" . I appreciate your comments regarding Starbucks which we operate it is a very busy store that draws many patrons from the area around the hotel as well as hotel guests. As mentioned the hotel is close to so many downtown Fort Worth atttractions- from restaurants to culture . Thank you again. Dave Fulton

“Nice hotel, convenient to the Convention Ctr and Sundance Sq”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 22, 2012 via mobile

We were in town for a college football game this time - I had stayed at the Hilton in February while at a trade show in the Convention Center. We had a corner room this time, wish has a very small bathroom. Service was good, room very clean. Valet parking seemed a little expensive at more than $20 a night. We enjoyed being able to walk easily to a number of restaurants and bars.

Thank you for staying with us recently while attending sites in Fort Worth as well as the Football game. The hotel as you know is close to TCU and an ideal hotel while attending or visiting Cowboy Stadium. Plus just one block from the Convention Center and so many entertainment options within walking distance. We now also have the new JFK Tribute Park in front of the hotel that just had it's Ribbon Cutting two weeks ago. We are hopeful on your next visit to Fort Worth that you will stay with us again. “Good overall”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 7, 2012

Two different stays over 4 total nights. Nice location is walkable to anything in downtown and you can't get any closer to the convention center without sleep in on the steps. Nice common areas and entry. The executive lounge was fine. All the people I interacted with were great. This is an older hotel but it has been updated/upgrade over time. Unfortunately I think even those fixes are showing their age and a complete overhaul will be needed before too long. My only complaints were the $22 valet parking with no self park available (although there are other city parking options to help mitigate this). The biggest surprise was the pathetic "business center". Even basic hotels offer free printing these days without charging you $1+ a SHEET! Everything considered, I would stay here again if my first choice is full.

Thank you for staying with us twice recently and for taking time to review your experience. We are constantly improving the hotel. Just this past month we installed in room safes, recently completed new lobby furniture, new marble floor elevators and the good news in about 15 days will start to create a new business center in the lobby- with complimentary use. We also recently upgrade our Wi-Fi service as well. I am hopeful you will return soon. Thank you again.
