“Home cooking!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 15, 2013

Breakfast burritos and an old-fashioned vegetable plate made a great lunch for us. Stopped by before going to a movie at the Ridgmar Mall. Fast, friendly service. Green beans reminded me of my mother's, with a little bacon. Classic mac and cheese. Excellent chocolate icebox pie for dessert. The owner takes understandable pride in his portrait gallery of service members, from World War I up to the present day.

“Excellent Breakfast!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 11, 2012

Come early if you don't want to wait on a table. Pancakes, eggs, bacon! (my mouth is watering as I type this, Really!)

“Breakfast is great”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 11, 2012 via mobile

This plaice is becoming a westside mainstay. It's been operating for over 20 years now. Breakfast and service is outstanding.

“Good Food, Great Prices”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 17, 2012

This is one of those mom and pop cafes that will continue to put the hurt on any chain restaurants that open in its general area. If you're on vacation, you might find it to be a bit out of the way, in an older and less touristy part of Fort Worth. It's right on old highway 80, which was the main drag in the 1950's. The cafe has done well, while many places around it have since waned away.

This restaurant is always packed. The waiting area is often crammed full on weekends at breakfast, lunch and dinner, but even if it is full, we've never experienced a ridiculous wait time. It seems that there are almost as many people working here as there are diners, so things move very quickly and efficiently. They'll get you seated, helped and fed fast. Oh, and everyone is super friendly. A very classic example of Texas hospitality that isn't so prominent everywhere you go these days - these people have it down.

The food is conventional cafe fare - burgers, chicken fried steak, fried chicken, etc, and an outstanding down-home breakfast menu (You can get breakfast any time of day here). The food is always hot and delicious. Oh, and you must get dessert. The pies/cakes really are made on site, and are very much worth trying. I've had discussions with one of the owners about their recipes and how dessert is always made from scratch - and it's always heavenly.

The prices here are very reasonable. The food is great, and the people are friendly. You might find that it's worth a little diversion from your trip to get a true original taste of Fort Worth.

“great food”

I have been going to the West Side Cafe for 15 years now. It has great home cooked food and the best service in town. Prices are super reasonable.
