The primate exhibit/rhinos/elephants are fantastic.
Also a really fun area where you can feed parakeets
Great for kids and photographers!

The zoo itself is great. The animals are amazing and easy to see. However, our last visit there we noticed some problems with cleanliness. We went on a Monday and it was not busy at all. The exhibit glass was really sticky and smudgy. It was kinda gross in some places. Keep in mind that we went when they first opened so there's no reason to have all the grubbiness on the glass. We wanted to sit outside and give our 2 year old a rest but had trouble finding clean chairs outside one particular restaurant on the patio. The chairs were filthy and really dusty outside. Also, it was really hard to find a drink machine that wasn't sold out. I guess they have them there just for looks. Also, we rented a stroller and all of them were dirty inside too. It's not hard to get a hose and spray em down every now and again!

We are frequent visitors of the zoo and were not impressed this time around. But it's all about the animals. And the animals were right by the glass and really cool to look at.

I guess we are used to the usual high standards the Fort Worth Zoo has and that's why we were disappointed on our last visit. The zoo could have been cleaner. The problem was probably due to the fact that the employees were standing around talking to each other or sitting around in the exhibits.

The Ft. Worth Zoo is fantastic-no doubt about it! We arrived about an hour before they opened-they should really consider opening at 9:00 in the summer. There were lots of good shady places to wait for the park to open though so it wasn't too bad. We walked in to immediately see gorillas, chimpanzees and more-no searching for the big attractions! All of the viewing areas for the animals are well shaded and provide lots of great spots to look at the animals from different angles. All of the animal enclosures are so well designed that you really do get to view the animals behaving naturally.

We visited a bird enclosure that my children were able to feed the birds that flew right up to them-very neat! They also have a fantastic Texas area with not only native animals but also a wonderful recreated old Texas town with a stagecoach, barn, and a well that cools off hot and sweaty kids when someone pulls the lever. There are plenty of choices for food. Something for every taste. The dining areas are clean as well as the restrooms and very mom friendly! There are lots of well placed spots to sit and rest. There is a little train that will carry you from one end of the zoo to the other which is handy when little guys get tired! I will say that when we left we did see folks coming in from across the street as the first lot was full. My suggestion would be get there early so that you get a good spot and can see the animals when they first open the gate. They are all eating and moving around at that time anyway-the afternoons are for napping. All in all-the best zoo we have in Texas hands down!

Me and a friend went to the Fort Worth Zoo on April 19, 2006. It was a very nice day to do so... but even if it were a hot day there is plenty of shade in the park. BEWARE: Wednesdays are half price days at the Ft. Worth zoo. If you plan on going on that day the line to park your vehicle can be a bit of a drag. Parking will cost $5.00. In addition, the line to get into the park can be a bit long (depending on the speed of the cashier.) and one more thing to note about Wednesdays at the zoo... There will be plenty of school aged children there as well- and at times some areas can be over crowded.

Overall, if you don't mind the children bumping into you or scrambling to see the huge Anaconda looking back at them, the park was more than what I or my friend expected. It was money well spent and the food is pretty inexpensive as well. Nothing compairs to the San Diego Zoo in Califorina but The Fort Worth Zoo comes very close.

We had read the many good reviews and decided to visit FWZ during a very hot weekend in the Dallas FortWorth area - September 18, 2005.

Agre with most of the comments - great selection of animals diplayed in excellent realistic settings with a noticable absence of bars. They struck the right balance between giving the animals room to move about - but still be fairly visible for visitors without binoculars.

But - the poor Jaguar was caged in a small pen hidden away at the back of the only area of the zoo that resembles a theme park. there is basically nothing wrong with combining a zoo and theme park - busch do it well in Tampa. But this does not set out to be a como - its a zoo - so that corner is incongruous. The poor jaguar was pacing up and down in a worrying manner. It was heart breaking to see such a magnificent animal so cramped behind wire netting. So - give the Jaguar a new home and some friends and the zoo will be much improved.
