“A Pleasant Stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 11, 2013

My wife and I stay here when we visit family in Fort Worth. The hotel is very convenient to southwest Fort Worth. We have found the price and facility to be a better value than other hotels in the area. The rooms are large and comfortable with nice amenities. The sitting is area is slightly screened from the sleep area - giving both a more private feel. The bed is extremely comfortable and we have always found both the room and hotel to be very clean. The coffee is far superior to other medium price hotels we have tried. The breakfast is excellent, but staff often has a difficult time keeping up with peak morning demand. There is plenty of parking and a wide variety of nearby restaurants and shopping. We have never been bothered by noise from the hall or adjacent rooms.

Room Tip: Views are pretty much the same from each floor. The is no noisy neighboring business.

Fairly new facility on the SW edge of Fort Worth, off I-20. Our third time here. Each time we come, the condition of the place is noticeably a little bit more worn.

The room layouts are quite modernistic and pretty nice, our rooms have typically have a fridge, coffee maker, flat screen TV and a separate seating area toward the entry door that features a pull-out sofa bed. The toilet and shower are in a small bathroom - the sink is outside, near the foot of the bed, so you might risk waking your partner if you are using the sink. There is a second bar sink by the fridge, in the seating area near the door. The Queen beds were very comfortable, pillows were nice.

The layouts are a little unusual but fine, even a welcome change to the standard room layouts. The lobby area is also pretty nicely set out in a modernistic deco theme, carrying over to the dining area where the pick-up breakfast is served.

Criticisms:

In our most recent stay, one of the two elevators were out. We were on the top floor (6th) of the facility, and had to wait about 5 minutes each time for it to arrive - either at the lobby or our floor.

When management was queried they said it had been out 'a few days'. What?? Why weren't the elevator repair technicians there working in real time, weekend / overtime or otherwise, to preserve the guest conveniences? What's the game plan when the sole remaining (overworked) elevator konks out??

While it is fairly new, it would seem the construction was not really up to par for hotel traffic duty. Pieces of the woodwork trim molding in the hallway have been ripped off - I guess by baggage and housekeeping carts (who would put these there where they would clash in this way??). The toilet paper holders in the bathrooms are the el-cheapo stamped metal type one would normally find in a Motel 6, really cheap, guaranteed to break after a month (and both of ours were in fact broken).

On our multiple day stay, housekeeping came banging on the door at 09:00 Saturday morning wanting to get started in our room (we could hear them coming down the hall banging on other doors and being told to "Go Away!". Our room was not vacuumed either day.

So overall - fairly clean, fairly new, conveniently located to TCU and the Hulen mall area, but.....it doesn't appear to be wearing very well, or to be particularly well managed.

Staff were very friendly and reasonably helpful. Functional management needs a talking to.

I have stayed in numerous hotels in the area, and this is one of the nicest so far. The room is very large and comfortable, with a king bed and modular sofa separated by a small partition. Bed was firmer than most, but still quite comfy. It is also very quiet. My room was right across from the elevators, but I didn't hear a thing! Check-in and out were a breeze, and the staff friendly and knowledgable. The room had a frig but no microwave with a large flat-panel TV. Minor quibbles...not many HD stations and no guide like at the LaQuinta in the same area, and you were not able to rotate the TV to watch while working at the desk. It was nice to stay in a hotel with real glasses and coffee mugs. Breakfast had a good variety, but no plain eggs. There also wasn't any paper/plastic plates or utensils to take any of the selections with you as you leave. Will probably stay here again, since I no longer wish to take pot-luck with any of the other hotels in the area. Quite frankly, I liked LaQuinta a bit better, but after a very weird incident while in my room, am hesitant to stay there again. Overall, the Hyatt Place is a nice place to stay.

I would probably stay here again if my wife and I were traveling without our son. We typically like to stay at hotels with a suite so that we can watch TV while our son is sleeping.

However, you will not be disappointed in this hotel. I think it is more geared towards couples and singles than families. They have a lot of things in the room that a 17 month old can grab and try to hide. :-)

The staff was helpful and friendly during our visit.

I would definitely recommend this hotel. We have stayed at a Hyatt Place before we had our son and we enjoyed it more at that time.

The room was very spacious, complete with a wet-bar and partitioned-off living room area. The room was quiet, which is always nice. The best thing though, was how kind and helpful the staff there was. They went the extra mile to help with breakfast needs, getting around the hotel, and answering questions about the area.

Our room seemed very spacious. But, that's because the sink is outside the bathroom (tub and toilet only behind the door). This is fine, unless you have people in the room (like your kids) who wake up at a different time than you do. So when the adults (wife and I) woke up, we had to use the sink in the the room, right next to the bed with our kids who were woken up by the noise. Otherwise the room was fine. The breakfast wasn't that great - worse than similar properties. The picture/ad in the elevator shows breakfast sandwiches, but they were not available when we were there.

Spent 10 days here and we were able to cook breakfast each day. Friendly staff, comfortable bed, it was a kitchen, living room, bed, and bath combo and it was nice to be able to relax in the living room area and watch the tube. I would stay here again.
