“Good stop in the middle of Texas Oil Country.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 1, 2014

Fort Stockton is experiencing the problems an Oil Boom brings, higher prices, not enough people to work all the Service Industry jobs.

Yet, the Sleep Inn & Suites has enough people to make a guest feel at home, and take care of their needs.

Our room was large, comfortable and everything we needed.

Well, almost.

My wife has medication that needs to be refrigerated, so we stay at hotels with refrigerators in the rooms.

The frige worked fine, but, it had no freezer.

No problem, the desk clerk told us to bring them down to him and he would put them in the on premises freezer for the night.

The next morning, we retrieved them and they were ready for another day of cooling our small ice chest.

Breakfast was good, and plentiful.

There were some areas that needed attention, like the unfinished paint on the bathroom wall.

One of the cheapest places in town for gas is the Shell station next door.

Easy off and on Interstate 10.

Will definitly stay here when back in Fort Stockton.

The only real problem with Fort Stocton, is finding a decent place to eat that is open on Sunday evening.

I'm happy to see businesses close on Sunday, but it doesn't leave many options.

Oh, Well!

The Big Mac was at least freshly cooked, as were the fries.

We are on an extended Trip and have had a few problems getting hotel staff to meet our disability needs, but not here. At fort Stockton the staff was very attentive and understanding. The first room we had did not work and they got us changed to a perfect room with everything we needed for a comfortable stay.

The hotel room was overall clean. Breakfast was the usual sausage and eggs. Coffee was very weak and could be better. This is to be expected in this type of hotel but it would have been better if the staff exhibit any interest in the customer and can do their job in a friendly manner. This hotel was expensive in the type of town which is Fort Stockton where the food was somewhat lacking.

This hotel did not honor a PAID reservation tonight. I am a 22 year old single female. I arrived at 12:30am after a long day of cross country driving. They advertise as a dog friendly hotel and I specifically said I had a small dog when making this reservation by phone. I was literally not allowed to enter with my dog. They said to leave him outside in the car for the night---it is 30 degrees outside and they wanted me to let him freeze! They said they had a room available but not one of their few dog rooms---although that's what I reserved. They refused to help me find another room at any other hotel, so I was wandering the town looking for a dog friendly hotel at 1am. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. WORST HOTEL EXPERIENCE EVER. The desk clerk MIKE said there was NO MANAGER or SUPERVISOR there. Absolutely worst customer service EVER experienced.

Room Tip: There are other choices in Fort Stockton. AVOID this one!

We stayed here on our way from Houston to Phoenix, and enjoyed it so much, we stayed again on the way home.

The lobby staff was especially pleasant and helpful. Checkin was quick and easy both times.

The Internet connection was fast and reliable. The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. The bed was very comfortable. Everything in the bathroom was fine.

The first night, I noticed that the outside door of the east stairwell was propped open with some rocks. Seemed like a security risk (and possibly a fire risk), so I closed it.

I checked out the hot tub, and it didn't look like the whirlpool jets were working, but we didn't actually use the tub because we were too tired both times.

The breakfast items were nicely presented, there was a nice selection, and everything was tasty.

Checkout was quick and easy.

We drive from California to Florida and back every six months with two golden doodles. This hotel promised a new facility with free breakfast and pet friendly so it sounded great. 192 dollars later the room was basic towels were thread bare breakfast was less than La Quinta which would easily have been under a hundred and the coffee tasted like water. Seriously overpriced.

I understand the situation that this guest was in and have talked to the parent. We are a pet-friendly hotel but do only have a number of pet designed rooms assigned for pets only so as to protect other guests who may medical issues when it comes to pets. It is stated on our website to call the hotel directly if you need a pet-friendly room. This guest made a reservation through http://www.hotels.com, and even though she talked to an attendant from http://hotels.com and was assured that she was going to get a pet friendly room, none of this was passed on to us. We did not get a call from http://hotel.com nor was there a special notation stating that there would be a pet traveling with guest. When we see this we do change the reservation for the guest for they even come in. And Michael did help guests get a room at another hotel that accepted pets.

We REFUNDED hotels.com who in turn refunded the guest.

I DO ADVISE guests traveling with pets to call us, the hotel, directly because the websites like http://hotel.com, tripadvisor, expedia etc are not able to book a pet room directly.

We were traveling with a pet; so needed pet-friendly lodging. Sleep Inn was more than accomodating. Kudoes on cleanliness, location and service. However, our room was on the back-side of the building where the long-haul truckers are able to park their big rigs; so we got lots of noise from the ideling trucks and drivers calling greetings across the lot to one another. It also was a bit worn-looking with the carpet raveling at a seam near the BR. Maybe the rooms not reserved for pets appear a bit better...
