“OK - but not great”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 9, 2013

We stayed at the Silverleaf's Villages - Lakeside in unit 145 from August 31 - Sept 5 through RCI. Check in was quick and easy.. The 2 bedroom unit was old but fairly clean. We were very happy that the air conditioner worked quite well as it was terribly hot while we were there - high 90s to over 100 degrees!! This unit was about as far back on the property as it could be so it was very quiet. It had a small porch with 2 metal chairs and a small table in front but no balcony to relax on. The master bedroom and bath (with a large whirlpool tub but no shower) were not separated by a door so there was no privacy. The second bedroom did have a door to the bathroom and a shower stall (no tub) so that's the one we used. There was a hairdryer on the wall in the second bathroom. The small kitchen did have everything we needed so no complaints there.

We could walk to the lake but the trek back up the steep hill to the unit was not fun. The grounds appeared well kept. We did not visit any of the pools or the waterpark.

We visited Tyler - a nice little town and a few wineries in the area.

My family and I went to spend labor day at the park. The park has a grand total of 7 slides, 3 of which are for kids. There is also a lazy river and a small wave pool. If you have young kids, 5-9, they're probably going to have a blast. It is a bit pricey; $64 for two adults and one child but seeing that my parents live 5 miles away, I kept my costs down by not needing a hotel. The lifeguards are paying attention and they did not give me any problems about bringing in food for my daughter with a gluten sensitivity. Food choices are limited; Subway or pizza. The waterpark was very clean, the tubes were in good repair, there really isn't much you could complain about. I was slightly apprehensive about the other negative reviews about timeshare scams/over crowded but my visit was trouble free.

There is nothing to do at this resort. The water park is tiny. There are only 4 watersides, but only two are worth riding and one of those two wasn't operating and the other one they closed because of lightening.

I want able to get a phone signal on my phone anywhere onsite.

Check-in lines were very long and even with a reservation you could wait as long as 2 hours before a room became available. The indoor water park is great for little kids but at an extra cost. Boating is nice at an extra cost. They have upped their food service choices which is an improvement. The pool areas are nice but you are literally out in the middle of nowhere. You'll drive at least 20 minutes or so to get to Tyler but it is convenient for summer blueberry picking and if you time it right, Canton First Monday. No WiFi unless you're in the rec room. Overall this is just an average property and I wouldn't want to spend an entire week here. A nice spot for a weekend but that's it.

Room Tip: You don't have a choice of rooms since this is a timeshare property.

We just spent a week at The Villages along Lake Palestine in Texas. It is a very nice timeshare resort run by Silverleaf Resorts. We stayed in a Presidential unit in their Beach Club area and found it to be very comfortable. The unit was a 2 bedroom 2 bath with a separate kitchen area for the second room and a large master suite bathroom that includes a jacuzzi, separate shower and a separate toliet area. Both bedrooms have king size beds. The living room is comfortable and has a pull out sofa bed which was great for our teenage son.

The resort has 3 large pools and one smaller one as well as a separate indoor waterpark. The larger pools have zero depth up to 18 inches for the little kids and a deeper area of 5 feet attached for the big kids and adults. The pools are clean and they do a good job of regulating the number of people in groups. Hourly, they check for pool passes and on one occasion there was a large group (30+) and they had most of them leave the pool area since there is a limit of 10 per group. Those who left went and played on the miniature golf course adjacent to the pool.

Amenities also include sand volleyball, well-maintained tennis courts, basketball, shuffleboard and horseshoe areas. There is a beach front along the lake but swimming is not allowed. One of the pools is along the lake so there is a nice view.

The activity post has quite a few movies that can be checked out as well as board games, pool, an arcade, ping-pong and other activities. There is a Subway onsite as well as a pizza place which serves a decent pie.

The resort staff was friendly and helpful. They did run out of towels at the pool and were slow to resupply them so taking your own towel to the pool is recommended.

We got a daily call from "hospitality" which is really the sales staff looking to get new owners or upgrade the current ones. We would just delete the message off the phone and that was the end of it. If you were willing to go to a sales pitch they give free admission to the waterpark and if you say no they up the offer to include $100 Visa debit card. We chose not to go and they did not press the issue.

We had a great time at the resort and I recommend it to anyone.

This was the perfect 4-day getaway for me, hubby, and 3 grandsons. Was happy to receive a call letting me know there was a cancellation and did we want to come. Are you kidding me? We stayed in a 2-bdroom unit w jacuzzi. Our July 22-25 stay was funtastic. Dont know who enjoyed the Waterplex Park more me or the grandkids. We had a home cooked breakfast daily, went to the pools or water park all day, and returned at nightfall. I cooked, spaghett w jalepeno sausage n beef w garlic french bread, double mesquite burgers, triple-decked beef sandwiches. We visited the Tyler Caldwell Zoo as well. We plan to return. This vacation brought our family closer together so next time we''ll bring 5 of them!

I'm an Ambassador owner at the Hill Country resort, and love staying at The Villages - Beach Club whenever we get a chance. Even though there are no 3-bedrooms at this resort, their Presidential units are quite nice. It's usually just the two of us, so we don't really need the 3rd bedroom.

The units are spacious and well kept. I like the fact that we have day passes for times when we just want to use the amenities without having to stay overnight.

Room Tip: I have had to stay at Lakeside in the past, and really dislike it. The units are older in that secti...
