“Not much to look at”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 1, 2013

The building is not much to look at. The parking lot is large and surrounds the building on 3 sides.

The food is "down home" comfort food with bread baked on site. The buffet is available with a good salad bar and a good choice of food. You can order from the menu. Desserts are fresh and good The restaurant is located at exit 197 on I-45

“Another good meal at Sam's”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 8, 2013

Very good service. The buffet has a huge variety of choices. I had the soup and salad bar and was very pleased. The vegetable soup was homemade. The salad bar was well stocked including beets, fresh peas and fruit. The bread was fresh and delicious.

“Beyond expectations”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2013

We stop here on every trip between Houston and Dallas (or points in between). The variety of selections is unsurpassed in our experience. While there are some items that are not outstanding there are many that are. The vegetables and salads make the stop and price worth the trip. The desserts are very good. The variety of meal entrees will keep you busy choosing. If you like sweet tea theirs is almost "Georgia" sweet. This restaurant was beyond our expectations for the cost. We both ate until we were satisfied and then were pleased to see the total cost versus some "sit down" places along the same highway.

“So much good food.. Come hungry”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 4, 2013 via mobile

My husband and I always stop here for lunch or dinner when traveling from Dallas to Houston. The Buffett is unbelievable!! Always delicious. There may be an item or two you do not think is the best but with the huge selection you will not be disappointed and guaranteed to leave with a full tummy. There is a huge salad bar with everything you could ever want on a salad plus a fruit bar selection. Two soups to choose from. They have four to six different meat selections plus four to six different vegetables. A fresh loaf of hot bread and butter is delivered to the table. The staff is friendly and prompt in keeping your table clean and drink filled . You must save room for desert. The pie selection is outstanding with the highest meringue you have ever seen on chocolate and coconut pies plus great cake section. There is also an ice cream bar and cobbler selection to go with the ice cream. Well worth the money. Takes me several days to recover. There is also a cute gift shop at the entrance of the restaurant . Be sure to stop and enjoy yourself!

“Nothing (I had) special. The homemade desserts did look divine.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 14, 2013 via mobile

My husband and I shared the brisket. One plate was more than enough for the both of us. The brisket plate that came with 2 sides was $9.39. I went in wanting barbecue. I'm spoiled to slow smoked barbecue. This brisket didn't taste smoked to me. The fries and green beans we got with the brisket were mediocre too. The free homemade bread that comes with meals is a nice touch. There is a buffet option there too. Dessert comes with the buffet. The desserts looked homemade and fabulous!
