My wife and I recently made a weekend trip to Dallas for leisure and a concert at Superpages.com Amphitheater. We stayed at the W Dallas and were overall pleased with the commendations and rooms. The W is centrally located downtown and walking distance to American Airlines Arena and the House of Blues Theatre. Very modern and chic bar/lounge near the lobby. Seemed like an it-spot for groups to start at on a night out downtown. We had breakfast two mornings at Tom Colicchio's Craft restaurant near the lobby. The service was on par and the food was delicious, but limited menu. Ghost Bar is located at the top of the W hotel. Beware of the VIP list for those staying at the W. Just b/c you're on the list, doesn't mean you are excused from the $25 cover charge. However, women are admitted with no cover. A little to smokey and filled with convention attendees. Great view of Dallas skyline.
The rooms where on the small side for the amount paid. Glass walled shower with no door let a lot of cold air flow in. Curtain used to divide room from bathroom. Large window with surprisingly comfortable modern decor couch. We didn't have the opportunity (due to cold weather) to experience the infinity pool, but heard great things from other guests. Highly recommend taking a stroll down the block to eat sushi at Kenichi. Modern furnishings, great booths w/ curtains, and the selection and sushi where to die for.
ABSOLUTE MUST: if you are without vehicle or rental car, ask about the complimentary Acura Service offered through the W. Driver will pick you up and drop you off at Love Field Airport (savings of $25 each way) plus any location within a 6 mile radius. Doesn't sound far, but everything you need is right around you. No limit on use, just based on availability. Let the concierge know of your plans and they will arrange everything. However, will not travel to Superpages.com on event nights.
Nice hotel, would stay again if attending events in downtown Dallas.
