This was our second trip to Bob's (on Lemmon). It is not our favorite steakhouse in Dallas but we had a gift card so we used it on my husband's birthday.
My problem with Bob's is the menu--none of the appetizers or sides really do much for me although I do like a loaded baked potato. On this visit, however, we got 3 of the specials which made a big difference.
My appetizer was the special of mozzarella and poblano stuffed bacon wrapped shrimp with ranch dressing (can't remember the price) and hubby had the special of lobster bisque ($11), which he loved. I got the 9 oz filet ($40) which was cooked perfectly with the loaded baked potato, delicious. We also got the special side which was pancetta mac & cheese ($9), to die for.
Hubby got the ribeye ($32) which he did not enjoy as much as my filet, and he got the skillet potatoes. The plates come so hot they can take your meat to overdone if you aren't careful.
Dessert was a ho-hum creme brulee ($8) (not my favorite) and we also ordered a glass of port which wasn't great--we could tell it had been open awhile. However, the dessert was comped for my husband's birthday which was nice.
Service was great and I liked the leisurely pace. With hubby's 2 beers, my Cosmo ($15), and the comped dessert, the bill before tip was $153. Although hubby would rate our visit 3-stars, I really enjoyed my meal and my leftovers still tasted great the next day. The $5 valet is a little much considering there is nowhere to park and the valet drive, waiting area and bar are all very cramped.
It's still not our favorite steakhouse but this visit was very enjoyable.
