“Scrumptious Chips and Salsa... Poor Fajitas”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 16, 2013

The restaurant is big and very spacious. Although it was a very busy Saturday night, we were seated right away due to the many dining areas in this restaurant.

Our waiter "Ben" was very prompt and very friendly. Brought out the chips and salsas right away. My niece ordered a "margarita" on the rocks which was very tasteless and very much watered-down.

Several entrees were ordered, we also ordered two Fajita Combos for two people; one with Beef and Chicken and the other with Beef and Shrimp.

The beef fajitas wasn't the typical "skirt" cut and it was very bland. The Shrimp were very small, the size of "popcorn" shrimp. The chicken fajita was okay but still lacked flavor.

Although El Fenix has been around for a long time and used to serve a very good and authentic fajitas... this is no longer the case.

I can't recommend this restaurant just simply because I'm certain there are others in the Dallas area that can beat this one on all levels.

“Great food and free parking”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 19, 2013

I went three nights in a row. Service on a weeknight was a little sporadic, but the weekend nights it was spot on. The food is great. The tortilla chips are light and crispy, almost like Rice Krispies deep fried. Quesadillas, enchiladas, tacos, you can't go wrong! The flan was fantastic and the frozen margaritas kept me coming back for more. And to top it all off, parking is convenient and free. Try finding that in Deep Ellum!! The restaurant was crowded each night, but there was never a wait.

“Great Tex-Mex & Enchilada Wednesdays!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 15, 2013

I saw a TV program about this restaurant, so when i went to Dallas, i decided i had to try it out.

We arrived at 6pm on a Wednesday, and the restaurant was packed! Families, couples...everyone seemed to be here! We waited around 10 minutes for our table, which was fine as they had benches out front for waiting.

The restaurant is a colorful, cheery place, and on this night, it was really jam-packed.

We ordered their famous cheese enchiladas, fish tacos and veggie quesadilla, and all the food was fantastic. The salsa that comes with the complimentary tortilla chips was excellent as were their light and crispy tortilla chips.

We found out that Wednesdays is their Enchilada Day where they have a special price for their Cheese Enchiladas. But be warned, the wait staff arent so helpful when it comes to specials.

A must-go on Dallas!!

“W did you change the chips???”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 12, 2013

We've been going to the El Fenix on Camp Bowie for years and love the food, service and atmosphere. One of the things we like the best were the El Feniz chips and salsa with chips that had a great flavor and easy to eat with the light and crispy texture. Now we found that the chips have been changed to a tough hard to eat chip which totally changed the beginning of our meal. The old chips have been around for years and we always saw the staff bringing 2-3 more bowls to tables because they were so good. Didn't see that Sunday when we went there and didn't even finish our first bow. You food is excellent and your staff is wonderful so please go back to the old chips. We have bought many a bag to take home for parties and get togethers but won't be buying the new tough chips that you're serving.
