“Really well done tribute to president”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 23, 2013

I have never been a W. fan. I actually gained a new perspective on him and was VERY impressed by his tribute about himself. It's way over priced! But you do get to visit a replica of the Oval Office and it at Presidents desk

“Welcome to the Shrine”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 21, 2013

On the bright side, this is a beautiful museum. Its exhibits are interesting and well laid-out, and the traffic flow (it was definitely crowded) wasn't bad. And the building and grounds fit in well with the architecture of the lovely SMU campus. Finally, there is a very good café.

On the downside, the building and exhibits really looked and felt like a shrine to George W. Bush. We've been to the presidential libraries of Kennedy, LBJ, Nixon, Reagan, and FDR. The Bush Library, in my humble opinion, was the least objective of all of them. (And considering we saw the Nixon library while it was still in private hands and hadn't yet swung over to the National Archives, that's really saying something.)

As a side note, I have to agree with an earlier reviewer who criticized the close-in parking lot. A machine vends you a ticket, but there's apparently no guarantee that the ticket will yield a space. And the process for exiting is just nuts--you have to insert the ticket and a credit card (in some order) into another machine, and hope that the machine reads everything right. The exit line was just dreadful.

“Memory Lives On”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 21, 2013

The memory of Bush 43 will live on in this library and museum. Over impression was impressive and moving. My group visited the first day this was open to the public. We got right in. The parking was right across the street. The exhibits were very well done. Displays were informative and personable. The staff were very helpful and friendly. I encourage everyone to visit here at least once.

“Great library, but they need to fix admission”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 21, 2013

The library itself is terrific but it takes forever to get through security and you will stand in a very long line for about thirty minutes in the sun while you wait to go through security. Once you finally get through, the lines are fine and it's really nice. Make a reservation at the restaurant "43" - it's delicious.

“8 Years as President of the USA,”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 20, 2013

One day recently I’d spent my morning glue to CNN as the opening ceremonies of the George W. Bush Presidential Museum. I was very impressed with all the speakers that were present that day. On May 18, 2013 as a birthday present my husband and I drove 240 miles for a ‘Day Trip’ to Dallas. The drawback I foresee for future visitors would be the small parking lot in front of the museum. Upon entering the lot, receives a parking ticket for $7.00 at the exist. The parking lot was nearly filled; I didn’t think it was right to charge a parking fee, and not to be granted a spot to park. They need another additionally lot that would be larger. At the museum before anyone pays for their ticket, each one will be check for security, same as the airport procedure. Our ticket was for senior rate was $13.00. Once inside - give you at least 5-6 hours to be filled with much valuable information. The September 11/2001 Twin Towers- the 3,000 plus names are printed on 4 grayish tall sections. Inserted on each side – a TV / photo shots clips of the hour and minutes of those events. In the center, 4 separate pieces of steel, maybe15 feet tall is display from one of the towers. Very impressive! You will visit in sections of: new call to service- dealing with wars in Iraq and Afghanistan; leading on the issues /programs of No Child Left Behind; acting with compassion- countries dealing with AIDS; life in the White House- full size reproduction of the Oval Office. You can bring your camera, might sure- no flash is used. I can ensure you; this is HISTORY from 8 years George W. Bush was our president, we now will understand the decisions he had to make in order for our USA to be safe.
