This area has a great variety of boutiques, galleries and restaurants. It seemed like they had a little bit of everything for every taste

“A different side of Dallas”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 5, 2013

Most visitors (and many locals) have never heard of the Bishop Arts District. Even if they have, finding it can be challenging, as can the parking. But for those who venture forth, there awaits a different side of Dallas than most people see or experience. Once you get there (it is in north Oak Cliff, just a couple of miles from downtown by car now, but eventually by streetcar), you find yourself in an area that is a throwback to early 20th Century Dallas, where people walked from home to shops to restaurants. The restored homes are there, surrounding the District, but the heart of the District is where you will find shops, galleries, restaurants, and bars. All are on a human scale. A group of 7 of us (age 50s- 80s) met for dinner at the Greek Cafe, and then strolled the shops and galleries for a couple of hours. Lots of people of all ages on the sidewalks, and in the shops and cafes. Just a wonderful atmosphere, safe and welcoming, away from the tourist and convention magnets. This is no West End or Uptown, Deep Ellum or Greenville Avenue. It is Bishop, it is Oak Cliff, but it is still a vibrant part of Dallas. The only downside is the parking (or the lack thereof). Once you get past that, all is good.

“Great for everyone”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 29, 2013

The restaurants in the Bishop Arts District are all different. The small shops that are around the restaurtants carry one of a kind items. While waiting for your table at lunch or dinner at one of the many places to choose from, take a peek inside the shops, you won't be disappointed.

“Back to life”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 29, 2013

They have done an oustanding job of bringing the Bishop Arts District to life! For years there were only a couple of restaurnats in the area. That has changed with a selection of restaurants and shops, a pleasant place to walk and enjoy the rebirth!
