We were staying in downtown Dallas and wanted to get some real, no frills BBQ. We found it at ‘Off the Bone’ on Lamar street. The place is small, but very clean, and you eat off Styrofoam plates. Don’t expect a Chili’s atmosphere here, which we did not want anyway. The sides are good but we were more concerned with the meat, and these guys did not disappoint! I picked up a rib by the bone and the tender meat literally fell off. We tried the brisket, ribs and chicken. Great smokey flavor on everything. You’re going to need a lot of napkins because the meat is tender and juicy and you’ll be using your fingers, which is just like you are supposed to eat BBQ. The portions are enough that we couldn’t eat it all in one sitting and had some left to take home. Service was a little sporadic, we didn't get all our orders at the same time, I think because they were very busy, but again, we were there for the food, not to be waited on. There was a line the whole time we were visiting, with people waiting for open tables, which says a lot for the good BBQ. Staff was very friendly and courteous.
