“Boutique without thought”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 22, 2013

Nice rooms but lacking so many attentions to detail that identify a boutique hotel being unique and a step above the run of the mill.

The environmental policy is laudable but ill thought out. The green sign works the same as a do not disturb sign but you get Starwood points. Your room is not cleaned. I am partial to linens being left but no bin emptying or vacuuming seems a bit odd.
I did talk to Night Manager about this but the answer was too vague to write up.

Breakfast is a non-entity. There is a “hole in the wall” to order food but this was a convention with a full hotel so the queue for individual orders was not practical. They also did not brew enough “free” coffee so there was a wait for this also. Again this would not be an issue with local options but not a great area for that.

Internet is free but exceptionally spotty. We all really expect the ability to do some Youtube or Netflix these days but it was cut off regularly.

The bar is nice with good staff who are attentive (note Jonathan).

If you want a good location for convention, good bed and work area, this is a nice option, just do not expect great food options and a mixed up service.

If you're looking for a place that has all the features you need along with a room that is comfortable, clean and cozy, a lounge with great music and ambiance, a bar that keeps your glass full and staff who go out of their way to meet your needs, then Aloft Downtown Dallas Hotel is the place for you! Staff is always friendly and prompt, the ambiance of the lounge is warm and welcoming with great music always playing, sofa's to relax, tables and chairs to sit and complete your work or eat a meal, charging stations for your electronics and more. The refuel station was also one of my favorite features as they have a 24/7 stock of drinks and snacks for your convenience. There is also a chef that comes in and prepares meals for breakfast and dinner for those with a heavier appetite or those who feel like relaxing in the hotel for the night. From the pool to the exercise room, to the refuel station to the bar, this hotel has it all! The most important is of course the level of comfort and a helpful and friendly staff. This hotel was the best I have stayed at and because of my excellent experience, I will definitely be back in the near future! Loved it!

Room Tip: I check out my colleagues rooms as well and they were all pleased - spectacular views of downtown, c...

Why does this hotel think it's a good idea to host teenage parties when business travelers are trying to get a good night's rest? Out of the 5 nights booked, we only were able to get one night of good rest. The other nights were spent being awakened at various times of the night by loud arguing and yelling in the hallways. Our final night(Thank you Jesus) included a teenage party which had drunken kids everywhere, screaming and yelling obscenities. The party moved out to the parking lot to include boom boxes, honking horns, and plenty of raucous laughter. The police finally came, but why should people who are paying for a good night's rest have to go through this?
Breakfast? Nothing fresh, everything comes out of bags and is microwaved.. Even military eggs aren't that bad. The staff seems to have a constant problem with programming the room keys, mine had to be re-keyed 4 times. This is unacceptable. My company will get me another hotel the next time I'm in Dallas,or I will book my own, thank you very much.

I will start of by saying the rooms are gigantic! That was the best part. The location was OK and I was able to walk to a few places for dinner. The ALoft hotels while seem to be a kind of cool place, are still lower end hotels despite their branding. I likely won't stay again, but if you are on a budget this place is fine.

We've stayed at this hotel several years attending the NCA cheerleading competition across the street at the DCC, which makes the location perfect! I like the room size, the unusual decor, and the staff was very attentive and prompt with any request. HOWEVER, the only problem we incurred was with the elevators. There are two elevators which does not seem to accommodate the occupancy of the hotel. When waiting for the elevator at least twice we were waiting with housekeeping staff with large service carts which also made me think they should also have a service elevator.

Room Tip: Although I love a good view, I would suggest lower level only because of the elevator wait.

The hotel was clean and the staff was friendly. However, the second night we were there, we came back to a very large pile of poop (I'm assuming from a dog) in the hallway right in front of our door at the end of the hall. I appreciate dog friendly places and get that accidents happen (owner should have really picked it up), but called the front desk. They apologized and said they would clean it up. 3 hours later, it was still there. Finally it got picked up, but that was a before the guests next door came home at 2am and blasted music and were yelling. The walls are very thin, which I expected, but it took a call to the front desk and 30 minutes later for them to quiet down. I think if you're planning on going out late and can still step over some dog poop when you get back, this place is great. If not, maybe try somewhere else.

Get pet friendly hotel. The location is nice for walking distance to all downtown activities. The rooms are not large but efficient. The lounge area is cozy & relaxing.
The king size beds are pillow top so there very nice.great flat screen television & high ceilings.
