“Mixed results on our first visit”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 9, 2013

Five of went there last night for a dinner at 630. It was not busy yet we were told we could not get a table as they expected to be booked by 8 pm. We ate in a pleasantly decorated bar area that was quiet enough to conduct our business. The waiter had a hard time understanding our questions and, based on what was served, understanding our requests. Drinks were on the small portion size as were the portions of food. The hot food was warm, not hot. The tempura rolls were disappointing. The soba noodles were excellent but the porcini meat sauce flavorless. The baby spinach with walnut sauce was good but the other vegetables also were without flavor. We definitely will not return.

“This restaurant is a must if you are in the area.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 11, 2012

My husband and I found this by mistake but it is now our favorite place to go. The service is exceptional and the food is delicious. We were waiting for a short while and the waitress apologized and brought us the white seaweed salad on the house(we didn't feel it was that long). This was definitely worth it. The atmosphere is romantic even though its usually busy but it still feels like your personal space. The decor is beautiful and they have the bar separated from the main dining- definitely a plus. Everything is authentic and the chef.always has something special. Definitely a treat

“Great Japanese Restraurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 4, 2012

I travel quite frequently and would say that this place is very authentic and a gem. The soba noodles are the best I have ever tasted and everything was beyond my expectations. I would recommend this place to my closes friends and associates. Thanks for the great experience.

“WHAT LUNCH !!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed November 9, 2012

Wish we knew what all the hype was about, as we sat down at 1:45 and looked at the menu, and trying to figure it out, at 1:55 we were told that the kitchen was closing for lunch and we would have to order everything now! The mexican restaurant across the breezway was great, try it.

“Sublime Japanese Soba House”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

Blink, and you could miss it. Tei An is situated in the corner of an open courtyard, attached to a contemporary office building in the Dallas Arts District.

We had a fabulous time, a pre-concert meal that was so good we cannot wait to return. The restaurant is a quiet, dark contemporary space. The sushi starter was as good as you could expect. But the highlights of the evening and of the menu are the wonderful soba (Japanese buckwheat noodle) dishes. The green soba Bolagnese, with Wayku beef, was out of this world! It was followed by green soba with Porcini mushroom and meat sauce - splendid!

And the desserts - incredible! For example, soba ice cream with black honey was a hit, wonderful ice cream dusted with soba crumbs and a fabulous, rich, molasses flavored black honey. Yum! If fact, our wait person tempted us by telling that she ate a portion of all the deserts in one sitting!

Don't miss this gem if you live in or visit the Dallas area.
