When we came to this city the zoo was the first place I wanted to go as in Chicago where we once lived we had two zoos we were in love with. How disappointing and sad it was for me to see that the Dallas Zoo in 1979 was so behind the times with the giraffes and elephants in such tight quarters that they were shackled and bent over for the night. Well wait till you see what they have done now!!! They built the most beautiful and amazing Wilds of Africa exhibit where the elephants and giraffes have free reign to do as they wish on land that resembles African grounds. There are ostriches and zebras roaming around and views for all the family members no matter the size. You can feed the giraffes for a price which helps preserve the exhibit and they have cheetahs near by that perform for free with a few lions nearby. The zoo now is so kid friendly and they can see a gorilla or a penguin up close! There is a family of chimps and usually a few babies to boot. Don;t miss the children's zoo with pony rides. Beautiful birds, koala bears, reptiles, and more. What a delight! Go early, stay late. Just don't go when the price is $1.00. A membership is the way to go as you can go as often as you wish for a great one time price. The magic of the little children bonding with the animals is not to be missed. I have loved zoos all my life and when visiting a city, I love to check the zoo out everywhere. I am now proud to tell visitors to come on down to the Dallas Zoo.

Thank you for the great comments and five star review. You summed up how many people feel about the Dallas Zoo and the great improvements over the years. It is difficult and expensive to make vast improvements, and they don't happen overnight. The cumulative effect of improving the park each and every year has not only enhanced the experience for our guests, but also for the animals that we care so much about. The great thing is we are just starting and there will be plenty of exciting changes in the years to come. We look forward to your next visit.
