“Texas State Fair Hints for a good time”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 14, 2012

The Texas State Fair is always interesting. The animal exhibits and competitions, art exhibits and competitions, the live performances and food are all great. Be prepared to walk, a lot. If you want healthy food, this is not the place. It is all fried food. But the Fletcher's Corney Dogs are great! Skip the ferris wheel. It loads you on and makes maybe two turns while loading others and then off loads you. Disappointing. The sky tram (cable cars) are the best. And half price on Tuesdays.

“Nice but nothing special”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 12, 2012

It is good to visit the Fair park at least once in a life time, the fair, well, has nothing different than any other fairs regarding games and rides.
The good thing about it is the FOOD, thats where this fairs stand out of the others, the ride to taste everything fried is fun... your body will hate it but is fun... by everything fried I really mean everything.. Beer, Butter, Oreos, Bacon (yes fried bacon), Donuts and you name it...

“Kids day out”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 12, 2012

Took all our kids to the State Fair of Texas, all was cool but the overuse of strollers in a cramped environment was really hard to deal with. The funnel cakes are a winner along with great lemonaide and other good food spots.

“I'm so glad we got to see Big Tex before he burned!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 10, 2012

We visited the Texas State Fair for the first time ever early in October - just a few weeks later, Big Tex was gone! Nevertheless, we had a great time - would highly recommend a Fletcher's Corny Dog (long lines, but worth the wait!). We also tried the Fried Bacon Cinnamon Roll in the Midway area - it was recommended and we like it - it was kind of small but you wouldn't want more, it's very rich. We parked onsite, but definitely had to ride the shuttle to the gate. Auto show was good, loved the baby giraffe, and enjoyed some of the livestock judging. I'm sure they'll make a new Big Tex - so be sure to visit next year!
