After reading the two harsh reviews of Supermedia, I was inspired to chime in. I've stayed here numerous time for training seminars. Chances are you'll stay here because of work as well. I have always found the rooms to be clean, comfy and large. They give you plenty of work space and a small fridge and a coffee maker with Starbucks! Not to shabby. Yes, the building is oddly bunker like but only from one side. The side facing the grounds is open and sunny. Lovely paths to walk or run on. It's a huge facility so you get lost sometimes wandering the maze-like halls but after two days you get used to it. The cafeteria is consistently good. There's the grill, the salad bar, the sandwich bar and the hot food line. So there's lots of variety. If you are there on a Friday check out the delicious Tex/Mex food. They have great enchiladas and homemade salsa. The gym is a bit dated but its huge. Sometimes my work colleagues would organize volleball games.
The front desk staff are very polite and help you book free shuttle trips to local sites within 5 miles. You are right next to adorable Grapevine, TX where you can find shopping, restaurants and bars or you can head over to the Grapevine Mills Mall for some bargain hunting. They'll even drive you to the huge Gaylord Texan which has fancy restaurants and a music venue. So you might be stuck at Supermedia during the day but there are places to visit nearby. The conference facilities themselves are very nice. As usual the rooms run cold so bring a sweater or jacket with you to training.
Cons: If you are looking for Hilton ambiance, you will not find it here. The colors are drab and the wall decor is perplexing at times. You do feel isolated from the rest of the world. Besides walking the grounds it isn't close to anything really. If you don't have a car you must rely on the shuttle schedule. It can be maze-like and its a bit dark. And yes the cafeteria and the bar have weird hours but again you can ask for a shuttle downtown. They'll give you a number to call when you need a pick up. Of course if its after a certain time (like 1 am) you'd have to get a cab back.
Overall its a strange building. But it offers basic amenities for getting a good night sleep and caters to a mostly business seminars clientele. It is convenient to the airport if you are delayed and need a place to stay overnight. Its definitely not as terrifying as the other posters make it out to be.
