I have been staying at the Stoneleigh every year at this same time for the last 4 years. I was so disappointed to see that the entire lobby & bar are had been remodeled to a modern style! One of the most iconic thing about this hotel was the fun Art Deco style in the lobby. The chandeliers across the bar were fantastic and it was extremely sad to not see them this time. I have taken pictures of these many times so that someday I can find a replica to use in my house. While the hotel is still just as comfortable and nice as before the new look just makes it feel different. Staff is always friendly and warm but it is now just like any other modern looking hotel and the old charm and character are gone. You can visit the 11th floor and still experience some of the historical decor the hotel had in its glory days.
One other point is that if you place the "privacy" sign on the door, I expect it to be respected and no one go in the room. Sometimes I prefer to not have housekeeping clean and replace towels (seems like the hotel would appreciate this as an environmentally friendly choice too). This time they still came in the room and replaced all the towels and took the "privacy" sign off the door. I travel a lot and this was a first time something like this has happened to me. It won't stop me from staying here again, but it might be something the hotel should address with the housekeeping group.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 6, 2014

Our room was large and well appointed. The staff at the front desk were friendly and accommodating. We noticed shortly after we started getting ready for our evening out that the drain plug on the bathtub wasn't functioning. We called the desk and about 15 minutes later maintenance arrived and repaired the problem. We noticed when we checked in that the room was warm, but hit was hot outside and we figured it would be better when we came back from our dinner. We turned the thermostat to cool down the room and left. Four hours later when we returned, it was not only not cooler, it had gone up 2 degrees (about 8 degrees warmer than what the thermostat was set at. Since it was about 11pm, we didn't want the hassle of getting maintenance involved again. We fiddled with the thermostat some more, but the temp didn't budge all night. It didn't go up any more, but it didn't come down either, It was not hot, just uncomfortably warm. I'm pretty sure the AC is centrally controlled and the thermostats are just for show. I've been in this situation before. They just want you to feel like you have some control. I really like the facility, but I won't be back due to this issue. The hotel trying to save a few bucks on the electric bill cost them a customer. It's too pricey a place to play that game.

I most definitely would stay at this hotel again, my favorite in Dallas. It is in a great location with many restaurants and bars within walking distance. The hotel itself is beautiful with a great lobby and bar, the rooms were spacious and well designed. The 11th floor offers interesting info about the past history of the hotel, new visitors definitely need to check it out. I would definitely recommend this to any traveler.

Room Tip: Rooms near the elevator are noisy.

Thw hotel es very nice, we had the junior suit which was very spacious. Bathroom very big and nice although water has a funny smell. The bar at the lobby is very nice and the service impecable.

Not to many internet sockets at nightstands and very small desk. However great experience.

Right in front of it there is a great meat restaurant you have to try!
