We needed one night's hotel stay in Dallas recently, so I took advantage of a weekend special that this hotel continually runs. I had never stayed there before, but remember the red Pegasus on top of the building from my childhood days.
When you get to the hotel, you find the first thing that might bother some - parking is pretty much all valet. I'm sure there's some public parking nearby, but the best best is to use the valet. The special rate I got included free valet, though, so this was not a problem.
The lobby is very nice - modern and stylish - sorta art deco-ish. Check-in was quick, courteous, and efficient. If you want the free wi-fi, they'll give you the code here, too.
The elevators are a little creaky and obviously at least the interiors are original, but there's a sign in the elevator reassuring the passengers that even though the elevators have "character," they are inspected on a regular basis, and are actually quite safe.
The room on the 23rd floor was roomy, and had very high ceilings so it seemed even more so. We requested and got two queen beds so there was room for the three of us. Beds were comfortable - that's the most important thing in a hotel room!
The cookies and milk in the club were a nice touch before going to bed. Four different flavors of cookies, along with Starbucks coffee and both regular and chocolate milk. For the adults, the bar is open as well.
The bathroom was nice and roomy, with a large tub/shower. The tub was not very high walled, but would probably have held two people.
The breakfast in the morning was fine - not outstanding, but not bad for a free breakfast. It was set up in the same club as the cookies the night before. There were two choices of eggs - both scrambled, but one with onions and peppers - and two meats - sausage or ham. Potatoes and some breads rounded out the breakfast, along with coffee or juice to drink.
Valet took a few minutes in the morning - don't know how far away the parking is. The attendants were very helpful and pleasant, though.
The next time we're in Dallas, we will definitely stay here again.
