My boyfriend and I arrived there late at night before Thanksgiving Day. Traveling there was in itself a unique experience: ferry ride from Galveston to the Bolivar Peninsula. The owner, Carol, greeted us and showed us to our room, which was in a separate building from the main house. The room's interior pleasantly surprised me - beach house-style romantic setting with a canopy bed and a remote operated fireplace!! (which actually heated the room quite well too). And it had a hot tub, TV, microwave, coffee machine and a small fridge. The house itself is right on the beach, and you hear mesmerizing and incredibly soothing sound of waves crashing on the shore. The deck outside was quite spacious, and since there was nobody else in the other room there, we had it all to ourselves. We had a wonderful, relaxed dinner under the stars there on the deck, and how exciting it was to see the sunrise next morning!
Carol was very friendly, caring and accommodating throughout our stay there. She even invited us to Thanksgiving dinner with her friends! She is a very nice lady, and she will go out of her way to make your stay enjoyable.
Overall, it was a unique, relaxed and very pleasant experience. If you like long walks on the beach, breathtaking sunsets/sunrises, being away from all the noise and city life, I would definitely recommend it. Moreover, it is relatively close to Houston and inexpensive.
Advice: pack up some food. Carol serves breakfast, but other than that, restaurants are nowhere to be found. It is MacDonald's free.
PS perfect place for meditation
