“Fried okra!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 3, 2014

Delicious chicken fried chicken and green beans, but the star of the show was the fried okra! How often are you still thinking about okra a day later? It was perfectly seasoned, golden brown, and crunchy. I saw some reviews that complained of slow service, but we had no problem on a busy Saturday, and our server was exceptionally nice.

“A taste of country”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 18, 2014

The best part of this establishment was location. It is located in a quaint little town, in a quaint little house....a great place to escape from the city...only an hour away from Houston. The town square is located just a block or two away with great little shops to explore. On to the food. Our entrees of meatloaf and pork chops were very good. The side of green beans was overcooked and mushy but seasoned well. We tried the pecan pie. It was so-so. The server left much to be desired. When he spoke, he would be facing away, which made him extremely hard to hear. The food was served in a reasonable amount of time, but getting the bill was a different story. The gift shop had novel items to dally over. Overall a nice little escape from a hectic lifestyle and a small taste of country living.

“Slower than molasses”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 7, 2014

Insanely slow service. Shockingly so. We ordered two salads and waited for 30 minutes to receive them while all the tables around us, including those who came in after us had their meals and finished them. Seriously, how long does it take to put grilled chicken on a bed of salad greens?

“Yummy!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 13, 2014

Wonderful home type cooking. We had the blue plate special with meat loaf, potatoes, green beans, with an excellent salad on the side and a piece of exquisite homemade coconut cream pie. We were stuffed we didn't have dinner that evening! Don't miss this restaurant when you are in the Brenham/Chappel Hill area.

“Slow service, but worth the wait”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 20, 2014

Very good, homemade tasty food. Husband had the meatloaf with mashed potatoes and green beans. I had the Chicken Fried Chicken Salad. Both were good quality and value. We indulged in lemon blackberry pie and fudge pecan pie. Excellent! Like the sign says "Try the Pie"
