“Beautiful family friendly property”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 12, 2013

Hyatt Lost Pines is one of my favorite Spa Resorts in Texas. A two hour 15 minute no traffic drive from Houston. You turn off 71, and proceed down this very hilly, winding and heavily forested roadway to the property, stopping for the occasional horse or animal crossing. Then you come upon this well done hotel resort. They greet you at Valet and check in, very friendly and quick unload and registration. We had been here several times before and prefer a room on the south side 1st floor with patio, which is closest to the pool, spa and all the food areas. The rooms are a nice size, well appointed and kept in fine repair. The beds are pillow top, big screen tv"s, big bathrooms, lots of well placed outlets, mini fridge and coffee making. We chose a junior sweet with a connecting room with my family of 6. Did I mention it was Mothers day weekend.
The service in all areas was great.
The food is adequate, very average. .Very disappointed with one meal, but they tried real hard to make it right.
The Spa is awesome, great wet areas, relax room, treatment rooms and my massage was excellent, I am very picky.

This is a very family friendly place, kids buffets, kids menus, smore's every night, activities everyday, movies at night, activity room and camp Hyatt. Did I mention the awesome pools, waterslide and lazy river. They also have other activities such as tennis, fishing kayaking, horseback riding, ziplines, eco tours and Did I mention one of the top golf courses in Texas..

There are also places you can escape if you have no kids on the trip, adult only pool, spa pool, awesome bar with back porch, fire pit and live music.

Room Tip: South side, rooms with a patio, first floor, close to spa, pool, restaurants and easy access to ballr...

We've recently returned from a 2 night getaway to Lost Pines Hyatt and really enjoyed ourselves. The grounds are beautiful, extremely relaxing and felt more like a large B&B than a resort. We went midweek as an anniversary trip for couples and the resort was very quiet then. By the time we were leaving on Friday, the families and kiddos were arriving. If you prefer quiet and serene, I'd say midweek is best. But, you could see how families would love it too as there's no shortage of things for kids to do. The lazy river wasn't quite as lazy with all the families as kids but again, it's just whatever suits your preferences. The restaurants are nice but pretty pricey. Beautiful golf course - great views and lots of wildlife around. We didn't have time to enjoy a lot of the outdoor activities but there are many to choose from: archery, skeet shooting, horseback riding, kayaking/canoeing, hiking, etc.
Overall, a great place to feel like you're getting away but just a quick drive from Austin.
Oh and they're pet friendly!

Where oh where do I even begin?! This hotel is the BEST family vacation spot near Austin and Houston! Families everywhere - kids for your kids to play with - swimming - games and more. Then great food - great wine selections - mixed drinks - and places to sit and watch the day go by. But bring your wallet and credit cards - it is priced nicely too!

Drove from San Antonio to Bastrop in just 1.5 hours. Arrived at the hotel by 11am, not expecting our room to be ready- but it was :)

The room was clean and had a nice balcony overlooking a grassy area and plenty of trees. The hotel was active with lots of guests, however the room was nice and quite. Traveling were my husband and our 2 kids (14 year olds). The room had two queen size beds, which were comfortable. The bathroom was clean and well stocked with towels. The overall appearance of the room was very pleasant, tranquil and clean.
The grounds of the hotel were well kept, lots of families running around. The hotel has 1 horse and 2 long horns and 1 donkey- which are a nice come see for the kids. In the afternoon they offer a hey ride that takes you around the grounds and to the river. The ride takes only about 15 minutes and provides an opportunity to see lots of wild flowers. In the evening you can make smores by the fire and later watch a movie outdoors- great for little ones. The lazy river is kid friendly and has a small water slide. The is also a waddling pool for the little ones.

The food was my only dislike, we ate at the sit down restaurant and thought the food was lacking in flavor. We sampled the spaghetti- which the kids normally love and did not like at all. I had the Jerked Chicken- which should be spicy, but was dry and bland. It came with a mango and raisin chutney- I asked for extra to help the dry chicken go down. The rice in coconut cream was also bland and dry. Overall, the food was disappointing. We decide to eat out the rest of the weekend and drove out of the resort to a limited number of places within 15 minutes (not a lot of near by choices). My daughter enjoyed the Star Bucks in the hotel on a daily basis.

Overall, we really enjoy being outdoors and walking trails and this resorts offers that. Lots of nature, nice golf course- if you play. The Hotel is adjacent to a state park and you can take a nice, relaxing, long walk by the river and over to the park where you can see a very large and very old Pecan tree- it took 3 of us to wrap our arms around the truck of the tree. There is also the opportunity to go horse back riding, but was on the pricy side about 60 dollars per person.

The price of the hotel is on the higher end and ranges between 250 to 350 and although the natural setting offers a special type of relaxation it does not quite make up for the costliness.

We went for Easter weekend - and we could not fit in all of the Easter Activities that the hotel put on! It was such a wonderful place for families, with the smores, outdoor movies at night with popcorn and of course the Easter Long-Horns! What a great way to spend time with family and friends!

Room Tip: The rooms on the pool side are very convenient!

Hyatt Lost Pines holds a special place in my heart. I grew up in East Texas but now live in Alaska so when we get the chance to visit the Austin area we always opt to stay here. The resort is very nice, although I personally do not think the rooms live up to what they charge per night ($250-$300 range and up). We wait until we can find a really good federal employee rate of $106/per night and then book our reservations. The grounds are very nice and evoke this very relaxed feeling. The pools are great for kids and adults alike. They have lots of activities for the little ones too. We always enjoy sitting around the big fire pit at night. One downside to staying in a remote resort like Lost Pines is that you really are stuck eating at their overpriced restaurants (and what hotel restaurants aren't overpriced?) I would definitely recommend Lost Pines, but just shop around for a good rate as it can be pricey.
