“Stunning!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 1, 2012

PPHM was great. This is one of the Best Museums I have been through. Extremely well thought out. The collections on every floor were such a surprise. I didn't make it to the basement, I'll save that till next time. Educational on so many levels. I must admit I wasn't expecting this type of offering. Beautiful building.

“Makes Panhandle history come alive!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 22, 2012

The artifacts are from the early Plains Indians to the early settlers. It offers hands on activities for kids. The early farming era to the petroleum industry. Life size dinosaurs and rock formations. The museum has a complete historical library, art gallery and gift shop with something for all ages. It's not a dusty old building....it's up to date with ever changing exhibits and movies to make it all come together.

PPHM does a great job telling the local history with interactive exhibits. This is a great stop in the Canyon/Amarillo area.

“A pleasant surprise”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2012

I must say I didn't expect much when I first heard about this museum. My apologies to Canyon for such low expectations.

This museum is huge! I think there are three levels but we were only able to get through two of them. LOTS of walking. Plenty of exhibits on the panhandle area and its development over the years. Oil & Gas exhibit, guns, buffalo, ranching, dinosaurs, the CCC construction of Palo Duro Canyon SP. All were covered and covered well. There's even a "Texas town" under the roof too. Some of the buildings were original. I'd recommend a stop there to anyone that's passing through the area.

“No military discount in Texas?”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 1, 2012 via mobile

Great museum! Much more to see than expected and my kids had a blast. 3 and under are free. 3 levels of assorted. Pioneer town on the backside was the best part. Well worth a visit if in the area.
