“You pay for the location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 5, 2013

This was my first experience in Canton and it was unique. My cousin chose this accommodation for its location. It is located on "The Mountain" in Canton and there were numerous shops and snack stops within steps of our room, which was the Cowgirls Gone Wild Room.

The good - The location, the ease of check in, the view, the patio, the atmosphere and immediate surrounds outside.

The not so good - The price (we were quoted and paid $55pp/per night - yes it was our choice to pay and stay). The room was cramped; one small bathroom for up to six people. Other than the beds and the patio, there was no seating area. The only amenities were toilet paper and a two small bars of soap. There was a small tv, microwave and refrigerator. I got the bottom bunk and on numerous occasions one to all of the slats would fall off. Our room was not serviced after the first night (thinking back not sure that was explained or included). The patio had adequate seating to enjoy the music to be heard down the path, but it was pretty dirty, items strewn and a chair overturned.

The gun fights and karoake make for a good tourist attraction, but, in my opinion, the price was a tad too much.

We ate at La Pizza Chateau on The Mountain one night. It was BYOB. The food was very good, fresh made and they had a nice young man covering songs.

Beware of the cost.....Susan will not post her rates in writing via email like the other Lodges or B&B's.

She only stated them verbally over the phone and then charged my credit card with a much higher rate. Her rates are higher than a (5) star hotel and it's a dump. She also misrepresented with complementary breakfast....it was coffee and a package of muffins.

We couldn't sleep....way too much noise from the other rooms....walls way too thin and floor wasn't level so if felt like you were rolling down a hill walking to the bathroom.

Room also smelled very bad!!!!!

Long Branch Hotel is the place to stay!

Room Tip: Long Branch Hotel is much better for a good value.

Ceci W, General Manager at The Buffalo Girls Hotel, responded to this review, June 13, 2012
As the owner of the Buffalo Girls Hotel since 1995 I would like to address complaints in the previous review. My rates are posted on my website and quoted over the phone. Due to a last minute cancellation; the only room available was a room normally reserved for vendors. Unfortunately their abuse had diminished the quality of this particular room and it has since been remodeled to raise it to the high standards we strive to uphold.
Usually when booking a room w/ children as guests we try to locate parents in a quieter room on the premises but again; this was our last room and was offered at a 30% discount.
Our rooms are extremely unique and the hotel is built from re-converted shops. Most of our guests enjoy this experience. Had this guest contacted me w/ any problems at the time we would have gladly made other accommodations available --at another hotel or a complimentary
nights stay. We strive to maintain an enjoyable and entertaining stay for our guests and most of our business is repeat business as guests enjoy the fantastic location and unique experience offered at the Buffalo Girls Hotel.
We welcome any inquiries at our website; buffalogirlshotel.com or via phone 903)567-7829.

Thank you,
Susan Matassa, Buffalo Girls Hotel
