Let me start by saying that the golden Buddha beach resort is like no other place on the planet, at least not that I've visited. So many peaceful places become too popular and get overrun by tourists and sightseers, but not here. Now getting to the island is not for the faint of heart. A 3.5 hour car ride from Phuket followed by a 1.5 hr long tail boat ride to a seemingly deserted beach. Backpacks proved much easier than roller boards. We were visiting the last week the resort was open so other than the owner, a writer from Lonely planet and another couple we had the island to ourselves. With not much else on the island, it really forces you to take it slow and enjoy your visit. we stayed in the smallest house closest to the club house and fell in love. Beautiful house with just enough room for two, baan tarntawan was our little slice of heaven. Listed as a beach back, this house could be a beach front as there is no other house in front and you get a wonderful view of the sea. It does get loud at night between the sounds of the monkeys, bugs and beach waves but that's all part of the fun. We saw more monkeys freely roaming this island than I have at a zoo, be careful they throw coconuts. All in all we were thrilled with this resort and cannot wait to return in the future. Would recommend this place to anyone visiting Thailand, backpackers and resort goers alike.
